Quick Quotes
Q. Just finding out you won the Heather Wilbur Award, how does it feel?
LINDSEY MCCURDY: Like I said before, it's definitely an honor. I mean, it's been a really hard year and it's taken a lot to get me back here where I wanted to be.
You know, just to kind of get at that recognized and receive this just makes it that much more special.
Q. Then you said in your speech that last year you played Tour Championship thinking this was the last event you were going to play. You put together four really solid rounds of golf. How did it feel walking off that last green?
LINDSEY MCCURDY: You know, so when I got done round two -- I actually shot even the first day, so I had to have a really good day the second day with the cut being so low.
Shot 5-under, and I think it just kind of all hit me right there. Got a little overwhelmed. Just went right to the bathroom when I got done with scores and let out a cry because like I just couldn't believe that, like I said last year, I was here, but I wasn't where I wanted to be like health-wise and golf-wise. I had spent the month before that in bed.
Like I said, I was just here just to take in one more good tournament because I didn't know what I was going to have moving forward.
So, yeah, it was definitely special just to, like I said, make the cut, but then to do well and just be here again is just a really good feeling.
Q. And then Epson adding a monetary value to the award this year, what does that mean to you?
LINDSEY MCCURDY: Yeah, that has totally taken me by surprise. I didn't realize they were going to do that, so it's really an honor that they want to appreciate me in that way.
But also just to give money is just that much more incredible.
Q. Then through this award and through your career on the LPGA a lot of little girls look up to you guys, especially the ones that wants to play golf. What message do you hope to send to the younger generation that's looking to get into golf or are battling similar things that you are?
LINDSEY MCCURDY: Yeah, I just want to say that being able to overcome something like that is just that much more rewarding when you get back to where you want to be. My message would just be to not give up. If it's something that you love and something you want to do, then work to do that.
And like I said earlier, too, I have my friends and family that's helped so much through this. I really don't think I would be here if it wasn't for them.
Q. What does it mean to you that it's the only peer voted award and your peers voted you to be the recipient of this?
LINDSEY MCCURDY: Yeah, when I saw my name nominated I was kind of surprised. Yeah, that just makes to feel like that much more rewarding. I did kind of try to keep it on the down low. I have friends that are out here, but I don't want to take away from their moment. Everyone is all stressed out here.
Just the fact that people are kind of supporting me and it being my peers and my competitors still, that's really nice.
