Quick Quotes
Q. Adam, 4-under par start for you. If we could get some comments on your play.
ADAM HADWIN: It was a real solid round, tee to green. Couple of mistakes with some wedges on 18, 3, and 4. I was moving in the right direction early and spun a wedge off the green in the water on 18. Had a couple more looks in the front that didn't go.
Otherwise, pretty ho-hum day, I guess.
Q. You got all three of the par-5s today. Any of those stand out?
ADAM HADWIN: I hit two good shots into 9 to hold the green in two, two-putted there. 16, I made a nice 30-footer.
I struggled a little bit through the middle of the round with the distances of the wedges. I couldn't quite -- I was hitting it long, and then I hit a couple shorts.
So cleaned that up the last few holes, but like I said, it was pretty strong to -- good to strong performance tee to green today.
Q. And conditions of the golf course this year?
ADAM HADWIN: Yeah. I know they re-grassed and maybe some of the areas hadn't grown like they wanted to, I think. The greens are a little bit slower than we're used to seeing. There's a little bit more grass on them, but I think overall -- I don't know what the grounds crew was hoping for, but I think overall is pretty good.
I think it might be a little bit easier greenside to chip from. There's not as much grain as there used to be. Ball is kind of sitting up.
But this is probably the thickest rough we've had in all the years I can remember anyways. I don't remember too many balls burying down where you had to kind of play safe into greens. So that will throw a little bit of a curveball to us this week.
Q. Speaking of previous years, a couple of top ten finishes here the last three years. Talk a little bit about this event and how it suits you.
ADAM HADWIN: I think when we get on the West Coast, obviously living in Phoenix, I'm comfortable in desert golf and see the lines pretty well. I get comfortable on these greens as well. I see them a lot better than some of the Bermuda greens we see, especially last week in Jackson.
Just that little bit of comfort, trusting the read and knowing that probably goes a long way mentally.
Yeah, just one of those places, I guess.
