Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Lilia Vu. 8-under 63 in the final round here. At the moment, tied the tournament record. What was different I guess today than the first three rounds?
LILIA VU: I think just my mindset. I was kind of just like stressed just about every shot and like not feeling good about my game. Like putting didn't feel good, and then I just showed up, well, can't be worse, so can only get better.
I just tried my best and that's how it turned out.
Q. Walk me throughout day today. Obviously in the zone making eight birdies, no bogeys.
LILIA VU: I just tried to hit good shots. I mean, I saw Atthaya's interview the other day. She basically said like I'm just trying to hit good shots, and that's basically what I tried to do today and it worked. Kudos to her.
Q. What happened with the putting? Were you just able to see the lines a little bit better, get used to the grain?
LILIA VU: I think the grain definitely threw me off a little bit. It still did a little bit today. I think sometimes when you hit it hard it'll go forever, like five feet past.
Then if you don't hit it quite hard enough it's like five feet short. So that was my constant battle this week, just getting the speeds right.
Today I just focused on not lagging putts, but making putts. Why did I ever change my mindset like, oh, let's just get it close to the pin, close to the hole. I never do that. I just try to make birdies.
So kind of just went back to my normal game. Okay, I'm just going to try to birdie this. If not, we'll figure it out later.
Q. Any of those birdies in particular stand out? Any super long putts that really stand out?
LILIA VU: Actually, one of my par putts stood out most to me because I yanked it left on hole No. 2, the par-3 -- oh, 3. Hole No. 3 I yanked it left a little into the rough and I hit not going to chip shot. I had 35 feet. It was a breaker. I did my AimPoint and then I figured out the break and I just hit it really hard and it went in.
Like 35 feet. Could have gone anywhere and it went in the hole.
Q. It's also a pretty notable groping. A good person to shoot that kind of number in front of in the Solheim Cup captain, Stacy Lewis. You had a rookie dinner last week, but to put that number up in front of the captain, what does that feel like?
LILIA VU: I think also when I first played with her in Canada I was really nervous, just like her being in front of me, seeing my game I was nervous. And then like I went to dinner with her a couple times and then I just feel comfortable. I didn't even think about it today.
I was just playing my own game, like I was playing with anyone else, which was good, because then I could focus. If I start to think about, oh, my gosh, that's the captain, I will not play so well.
Q. What are the thoughts on that now that you're off the golf course, having an 8-under round, having her see the best of your game?
LILIA VU: I don't know. I'm proud of how today went. I feel like I left some birdies out there, but it's okay. You can't make all the putts, so...
