Quick Quotes
Q. 6-under 66 for a total of 13-under. How do you rate the chances?
RORY McILROY: Yeah, we'll see. I stood talking to you yesterday afternoon and I said, 64 might have a chance and it looks like I might come up a couple short. So that was a decent target.
Played well again today. I did everything that I wanted to do. I didn't make birdie on 14 which sort of halted the momentum that I had, and then it was a bit of a struggle on the way in. It was nice to birdie the last. But I think I'll probably come up a couple short but I'll just have to wait and see how the guys play the last few holes.
Q. You started the day eight shots behind, 6-under through 13 and tied for the lead, though they had the birdie holes around the turn to play. What was the thinking then and did you have a target score in mind?
RORY McILROY: Yeah, I thought once I birdied 13, I thought if I gave the two birdie holes coming in were 14 and 18, and if I could birdie one more, I thought that was -- that's what I wanted to get to. I wanted to get to whatever that was, 16, so then not birdieing 14 was, as I said, a bit of a momentum killer. Ended up making two good pars on 15 and 16.
17 is actually playing pretty tough today with that wind straight off the right. That will be interesting to see how the guys navigate that, but 18 is obviously a very easy birdie.
Yeah, came up two or three short of my target in the end, and it looks like that target probably would have been good enough to at least get in the playoff. But we'll have to wait and see.
