Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Cheyenne Knight. Yesterday you said the wind was going to be a challenge out here. Did you expect it to be this much of a challenge? Is it exactly what you were expecting?

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: It was a lot windier this morning than I thought it was going to be, especially when I started hitting balls at like 6:45; it was really windy and now it's not as windy.

So it was a little bit of shock this morning how windy it was because it usually gets windier as the day goes on and it looks like it's dying down know.

I asked for it, so got it this morning.

Q. How do you adjust your game to manage that?

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: You just have to flight a lot of shots. Have to be specific with like the start lines and the finish lines just because the wind moves the ball so much.

So just kind of had to think a little bit more about club selection.

I'm pretty good at flighting the ball low, so just kind of did that today.

Q. Do you like that challenge though? You said you're from Texas, you're used to playing like that a little bit.

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Yeah, I love it. I feel like this -- a calm day is pretty rare out here, so it's very normal. I like to play in the wind. Love going to Scotland as well and that challenge.

So, yeah, just felt like kind of a normal day at home except it being really windy early.

Q. Shot even par today. How happy are you with that result? Scores are very high today so far.

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Yeah, I'll take that. I was really pleased with my round. I managed my game really well. So kind of see like how people play this afternoon, but I was -- like I put myself in position, so just get ready for tomorrow.

Q. How important are those pars out here, knowing it's hard to birdie, easier to bogey? How are those pars, how important?

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: I feel like par goes a long way, especially today. The pins were kind of in some tricky spots so I had to hit middle of the green, so had a few good two-putts, and especially on 14.

There are some tricky holes out there, so just keep hitting the green, give yourself chances, but par goes a long way.

Q. Did you say yesterday that this course felt similar to the win in 2019 or different?

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: A little bit similar. More similar than any of the other years I think. Yeah, it wasn't as windy. Just a little bit of a different wind direction today, which it's not normally this way most of the time, a lot of crosswind.

Yeah, felt similar.

Q. Does that excite you going into the rest of the week?

CHEYENNE KNIGHT: Yeah, it does. I'm excited. It was great seeing everyone out, saying they remembered me from 2019, or the guy in the scoring tent was my scorer when I won and he was like, you wouldn't stop crying in the scoring tent.

Yeah, it's really cool everyone being out, and I feel like a lot of people came out today on a Thursday which is great.
