Quick Quotes
Q. Pleased with the way you started?
DANIEL GAVINS: Nice to hole some putts on the greens. I've been struggling on the greens the last couple of weeks. I'm playing really solid to nice to post a score today.
Q. You finished this event last year sixth. Must be something that you find an extra step, an extra gear?
DANIEL GAVINS: It was a lot of fun playing with amateurs and yeah, just try and stay patient. Obviously got three rounds, it's nice just to make birdie.
Q. Amateurs love it so much and usually are very jovial and it was a lot quieter out there today, so I don't know if the concentration kicked in but what's it like playing with Peter?
DANIEL GAVINS: He's a really nice guy. We talked about how he started up. A few holes where he went one way and I went the other way, but apart from that we had a good day.
Q. Carnoustie looks like it's going to be the brunt of the weather for the week but a shotgun start at 8.30. Does that give you a little bit of peace of mind?
DANIEL GAVINS: The weather starts around nine o'clock in the morning. It is what it is. I don't mind playing Carnoustie when it's tough. I was playing there when it was 40-mile-an-hour wind. Can't be much different.
