Quick Quotes
Q. Bogey on The Road Hole, and birdie on 18; how happy are you about the round today?
EWEN FERGUSON: I'm happy. I didn't feel like my swing was totally with me today but felt some course knowledge helped. Unlucky bogey on 17, it's a tough hole. Missed a 5-, 6-footer for par.
And on 18, I tried to play too smart. Didn't want to get too cute in the Valley of Sin. I felt I was due a putt. It was nice to make one on the 18th at the Old Course is always a nice feel.
The condition of the course is really, really good, a bit softer than what we are used to around here but what can you expect, October in Scotland. So just battling away with a few kind of holes that feel a bit longer and tougher because it's softer. But it's the same for everyone, so just try and get on with it.
Q. Looks like a few missed cuts recently.
EWEN FERGUSON: Well, two missed cuts the last two weeks but don't really feel that badly. It's a tough school. It's not easy to play well all the time. Just keep practicing and trying to get better. That's all you can do.
Q. Looks like the weather won't be too kind, shotgun start at 8.30. How do you feel about that?
EWEN FERGUSON: If the weather is going to be tough, it's going to be tough everywhere, isn't it. Maybe if the weather is bad, it's hard to score on any course.
So maybe they won't be able to score around Kingsbarns and here with the weather being so bad and same at Carnoustie. It will be tough to score as well. If I can keep my head together and plod, shoot even par, shouldn't be disastrous.
