Tomorrow's forecast, 76 degrees the high. Light winds out of the northeast. The first starting time will be 11:35.
And we wish you all luck. Good luck, gentlemen.
MICHAEL BALIKER: We will ask the captains to stick around for a couple of quick questions.
Q. Trevor, just your general thoughts on today and how you can crawl back tomorrow?
TREVOR IMMELMAN: We have no other choice. We're going to keep fighting. It's what we do. It's the type of mentality that this team has. So, you know, we'll regroup.
American team played some beautiful golf today. We got off to a poor start.we'll need to adjust for that tomorrow, make a few putts, keep fighting. Long way to go.
Q. Trevor, big psychological boost for Cam and Si Woo to come back. Wonder how you bottle that. And Cam even said there was some discussion about that comeback behind the green and guys kind of understanding what that meant.
TREVOR IMMELMAN: Yeah. Just so proud of those guys. Cam has been chomping at the bit for the longest period of time. You know, we really feel like he's come out of his shell quite a lot in and amongst the team atmosphere and environment in the last three or four weeks, and it's been great to see that growth from him.
I think he has an extremely high ceiling and a ton of potential. That's why I picked him. So for those guys to fight back -- you know, we know Si Woo's ceiling. He's won at the highest level. But for them to finish strong like that to eke out a point for us really is big psychologically.
If we got white washed today, it would have been a tough pill to swallow. We've got our work cut out for us, but like I said, we'll keep going, man. We'll keep going until they ring the bell.
Q. Question for both captains, starting with Davis. There was a time, very near the end of the day, where you could still talk yourself into 2 1/2-2 1/2, or something close to that. How important was it, Cam Young to make his putt and then for that last match to deliver a full point?
DAVIS LOVE III: I've been doing this enough, it can go either way, you know. It looked red all day, but it was always -- somebody came on the radio and said, yeah, but we're 1 up in three matches and those can flip real quick.
So like Trevor said, there's a long way to go. We're obviously very pleased with the start. But, you know, even that first match was -- both teams were playing really well. Then all of a sudden, they bogeyed two in a row. It looked very lopsided. But both teams were playing very well even in that first match.
So we just got to stay on our plan and keep trying to just win every match and win every session and let the outcome take care of itself.
Q. Trevor, what's your message to your team tonight?
TREVOR IMMELMAN: Well, we have got some South American food going so we're looking forward to that right now. It's been a long, long day. We'll get back to the team room, have a little fun, regroup.
The message has stayed the same. Message is play free. Nobody here expects us to win. We've got to have that belief deep down. Go out there and fight. We're up against maybe the strongest American team ever assembled on paper.
So, you know, we do what we do. We run our system. We get ready and prepare, and we play as hard as we can. Chips will fall where they may.
Q. Davis, is it an advantage or disadvantage that they're having South American food tonight?
DAVIS LOVE III: I'm starting to think if there's a way to sneak in the back door and get a taste of it.
We've talked a lot about it. He's got, you know, what, six or seven different --
TREVOR IMMELMAN: Seven.
DAVIS LOVE III: -- cultures of food. So they're going to have a lot more diverse, a lot more choices.
TREVOR IMMELMAN: I've been eating rice and kimchi for breakfast the last couple of mornings. That's been different.
Q. Davis, when you've got two newcomers -- real Cup newcomers on your team, what value is it for someone like Cam Young and Max Homa to get a good kind of a winning result early as it relates to the rest of the week?
DAVIS LOVE III: Well, just to see the look on their face when they finished off their matches and got a point, got off to a great start. You know, both of them have been looking so forward to this.
You know, both of those guys, in different ways, have shown incredible support for the PGA TOUR this year. Both of them have expressed to me over and over and over again how much they want to play on this team. And then to come right out and get a point was great.
So our team's having a lot of fun. They're all pulling hard in the same direction, and they're all working really hard. I'm proud of all of them, but especially those two guys. To get a point today was awesome.
MICHAEL BALIKER: Gentlemen, thank you for the time. Best of luck tomorrow.
