Team Sweden
Press Conference
M. YMER/J. Sinner
6-4, 3-6, 6-3
Italy - 1
Sweden - 1
THE MODERATOR: This is your best win in terms of ranking, despite the probably sadness of not qualifying. How do you evaluate your overall performance?
MIKAEL YMER: Very good. Yeah, of course sad we won't reach Malaga. We did all we can. Everyone fought very well in every single game. So I think we can keep our head high up and be proud.
THE MODERATOR: Do you think you get an extra push in terms of motivation when representing Sweden as a team?
MIKAEL YMER: Yeah, it's different kind of energy, at least for me, with it being a team environment, playing for more than just yourself.
So I do think that plays a role.
THE MODERATOR: Are you going into the last part of the year with an extra push after your performance this week?
MIKAEL YMER: Yeah, I would say so.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. You said you have extra energy when you're playing for Sweden. This match today, how did you find the motivation? You knew your victory wouldn't push your team through.
MIKAEL YMER: There's a saying in One Last Dance, the Michael Jordan documentary, that he says he was always giving 100% because he knew there was kids maybe watching him for the first time.
Even though it's really tough to live by, I failed on that part, I do like the mindset. I was going off of that a lot today.
Then, of course, it helps. I don't know. I think it's seven thousand, eight thousand people here. That also helps.
Yes, specifically I would say that I was thinking of that mindset today. The surrounding made it even more special to keep going.
