Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Andrea Lee after the second round. Lots of birdies for you there on the scorecard; no bogeys. What was it about the course today or your game that was helping you find all those birdie opportunities?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, played really solid. I thought I played well yesterday, but just none of the putts were dropping. So saved them all for today I guess.
I just played really solid. Fairways, greens, didn't make any bogeys, like you said. I actually only birdied one par-5, so ball striking was solid and, you know, scoring well on the par-3s and 4s as well.
Q. Anything different about the course today from yesterday?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I think the greens were just a little bit smoother for us. I think it gets bumpy a little bit late in the afternoon. But everyone deals with it, so that's not an excuse.
I think I was just rolling it a lot better today. Had a few five-footers for birdie, 20-footers for birdie. Just everything went in today.
Q. Yeah. You probably get asked this question a lot, but this has been a really good stretch of golf for you this season, and especially the last several events. What is it about your game itself that has just like clicked for you these past months?
ANDREA LEE: Just staying really patient out there, going shot by shot, and just having a good time, honestly.
Every part of my game feels good, and it's been nice to see the good results the last couple months. Hopefully I can keep it rolling in this final stretch of the season.
Q. A lot players talk about their mental game and how hard to is to stay patient. Can you talk us through that, like how much work it takes to stay mentally patient and focused?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I think when I get a little bit anxious I tend to walk faster, everything gets a little bit faster. When I find myself in that situation I try to slow things down a little bit and just take a lot of deep breaths. For me that helps personally.
Yeah, staying patient has not been easy, especially last year. I think learn would and matured as a golfer to understand the word patience a little bit more.
So, yeah, feel like everything is finally coming together.
Q. Uh-huh. How gratifying is it to see yourself at the top of the leaderboard going into the weekend, and what do you think you have to do to maintain your place at the top?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I'm really excited. I've been in contention a few times this year, so this is just another opportunity for me to try and finish strong and maybe come out with the first win.
I'm not going to try and think about that or get too ahead of myself. Just like I said, just staying patient and playing solid like I have been doing all year, and see where that takes me.
Q. Last question: Does it help you being sort of at the top, competing with the best in the field? Does that help you? Motivate you at all? Give you more confidence?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, it definitely does. Honestly it fires me up to be out there with the best and with the top 10 girls in the world. Hopefully I'll be up there someday, but it's just a steppingstone for me and another opportunity, like I said.
I'm just really looking forward to it. I love being in contention and I love playing in front of the crowds, so I'm excited for the next couple days.
