Quick Quotes
Q. You came up with some birdies at the end.
SCOTT HARVEY: That putter. Putter is, it's hot. I made a lot of putts early and a lot of putts late. I don't know, just putting really well at the moment.
Hopefully it continues.
Q. He came back at you a little bit on the back. You knew he was going to be a tough opponent.
SCOTT HARVEY: Oh, yeah. That guy has a lot of talent. Like a lot of talent. Can hit shots that I don't -- I mean, big string guys that can hit a lot of shots not a lot of people can hit.
I don't think he -- I don't know if he knows or not, but I don't think he knows how good he really is. That guy is a special talent. He's going to be around a long time.
Q. When he got it to where he was 1-down, tell me about what happened on 15 and 16.
SCOTT HARVEY: 15, that's the short par-4, right?
Q. Yeah.
SCOTT HARVEY: Yeah, we both laid up in the fairway. He hit a shot that almost got up to the top of the ridge and kind of spun down.
I had already hit it. I honestly thought I was long and it was like 15 feet and I made it. He two putted; I made it.
Then on 16 we both kind of had similar putts. I was just a little inside of him. Similar line. Got a good read of him and made another 20, 25 -- I don't know how far it was, but just another putt that doesn't normally go in that went in.
Q. Is that how you got the lead early?
SCOTT HARVEY: Oh, yeah. I made a 55 on the first hole. I don't know what I made on the first hole.
Then made a long bomb on -- I'm trying to think. Yeah, made a 25, 30-footer on two.
Another probably 35-footer on three.
You know, just crazy stuff.
Then hit a couple 5-irons really close, maybe five and six I think it was.
I don't know. Honestly I just look up and good things are happening right now. It's just weird.
Q. You must be doing something else right besides the putter. Are you thinking your way around?
SCOTT HARVEY: Yeah, I think so. I think more just, yeah, I'm thinking my way around. Like I said, I'm looking up and my misses are -- I'm getting away with putting them in the right spots when I'm missing, and that's a big part of it.
Q. Obviously you don't know your opponent just yet. Say it is Stewart Hagestad. What are your feelings about seeing him again?
SCOTT HARVEY: Yeah, I mean, whoever I face at this point, even -- in match play in general, whoever you face is going to be a great player. Once you start getting to the end, just going to get better and better and better. It doesn't matter who it is.
Actually sat and talked to Persons for a long while the other -- yesterday, and I think he's from North Dakota.
Q. Uh-huh.
SCOTT HARVEY: Super nice guy. Stewart, super nice guy. Whatever, doesn't matter who it is, it's going to a good match and fun time.
Q. Yeah, I didn't even know Persons play in U.S. Open at Chamber's Bay.
SCOTT HARVEY: Sure did. Yeah, he's the one who told me I could do my laundry here. Get all that from him.
