HAVLICKOVA-SHNAIDER/Kuhl-Seidel
6-3, 6-2
THE MODERATOR: Straight sets, 53 minutes on the court. Please give us your assessment of your performance this afternoon that led to the victory.
LUCIE HAVLICKOVA: Well, I think the start was a bit nervous, so we made a lot of mistakes. But then we found our game. We were leading all the match. I think we played a good week and good finals and we made it.
DIANA SHNAIDER: I'm agreed with Lucie. Like for me was very nervous, like start of the match. But then we just stay focus and we will try to find our game. Thankfully we made it. We find it. We just continued to play like we started, like to cheer each other.
I think it was good match.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. How difficult was it or how did you regroup in the time between the singles and the doubles?
LUCIE HAVLICKOVA: Well, I was pretty upset after the singles, but there was a lot of time to get ready. The boys played long match, so I had a lot of time to refocus for the doubles.
Even though I lost the singles, I wanted even more to win the doubles because you never want to be two times second (smiling).
So, yeah, I just refocused and it ended well.
Q. You had three junior slams combined coming into this. Did you anticipate this with all your past success in doubles?
DIANA SHNAIDER: Well, as for me, I didn't expect, like, we're special something for this tournament, because for me, it's a little bit hard here, because every time I didn't have any good results here. It was like mentally preparation.
But then Lucie write me. I was, like, for sure I want to play with her because she's a good player. I was thinking we have a good chances. We just need to find our game, find our connection, what is better to say in the right moment.
I think we did a great job and find easy way to finish it in good way.
LUCIE HAVLICKOVA: Yep.
Q. In the singles match, you played three times yesterday, Alexandra only had to play once. Were you tired? How much of a factor was that?
LUCIE HAVLICKOVA: I mean, of course it was like some difference. I was pretty tired. We have tough week. The matches were tough. I played two times three matches a day, which isn't usual. It's not easy.
This was one of the differences today in the match. But I cannot say it as excuse. I went there and I had to do what I had to do and I didn't make it.
Q. What did you think about the way Alexandra played today? The crowd was so much for her.
LUCIE HAVLICKOVA: Well, the crowd, what can I say? I don't think it was, I mean, good. When you make double-fault and people start shouting and screaming, I don't think that is a fair play. I don't think that belongs to tennis.
Again, it's not an excuse to lose a match. Alexandra played amazing, she played really good. Congratulations to her.
