Las Vegas Aces
Practice Day
Q. What personal takeaways did you have for things you needed to do in the second half of the season?
JACKIE YOUNG: Yeah, I think just be locked in defensively. Each night I have to guard the best guard on the other team, so just like taking pride in my defense. Try to get defensive stops and make sure I’m locked in defensively because we know the offense is going to come, it’s going to be there. We play out of our defense and if we’re getting stops, we’re able to get going in transition and it makes it easier for all of us.
Q. You’re one of only two players on this team that played in the 2020 Finals. What do you remember about that experience? It was the bubble, so maybe it was different.
JACKIE YOUNG: Yeah, it was a lot different. We’re completely different now, a completely different team. We were young then. I was (young) and so was A’ja (Wilson). Now it’s just, we’ve been there before, we know what to expect. We’ve only gotten better since then.
Q. How do you think about the style dynamic and what this series can create stylistically?
JACKIE YOUNG: Yeah, I mean we know that they play big and they’re a big, longer team. We just have to do a good job rebounding and make sure the guards are rebounding. We know that the bigs are going to (rebound), but the guards have to do their part.
Q. Do you guys talk about pace, in terms of wanting to play at your pace versus theirs?
JACKIE YOUNG: Yeah, but that’s the whole season though. We’ve been trying to do that the whole season. We know they’re a team that wants to slow it down, but we just have to focus on us. We like to get going in transition, but it all starts with defensive stops.
