Quick Quotes
Q. All right, here with Andrea Lee. A 6-under day; a 9-under overall. Just take me through this round two, which was a little bit troubling, as you weren't feeling the best. Still able to pull it out. Just take me through what was working so well.
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I started really well. Started on the back nine today. I think I had five birdies on that nine with one bogey, so just a good start.
I played really solid on my front nine as well. Just couldn't really get as many putts to drop.
But managed to get two coming in, and just playing really solid. Happy with the way I'm playing, so...
Q. What is it about the back nine holes that suit your game that you're able to make the birdies that you're looking at?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I just took advantage of the par-5s. Honestly, I'm just hitting fairways and hitting greens, trying to get as close as possible and give myself the best looks.
Honestly, I think the front nine is a little bit easier actually, even though I scored better on the back nine today. I just couldn't get some of them to drop.
Q. Why is the front nine easier for you?
ANDREA LEE: I think the holes are a little bit shorter on the front nine, a little more attackable.
Besides No. 1 and I think another par-4, every other hole is pretty much attackable. I just kind of shoot for the pin.
So, but, yeah, everything feels great right now.
Q. If you chart your career up to this point, it's a pretty upward trajectory. If you were a stock, you would be a buy.
ANDREA LEE: Thanks.
Q. What do you need to do to get to the next level? Where are you in that process?
ANDREA LEE: I think I'm getting there slowly. I've learned a lot over the past couple years being on tour. I think really growing and maturing as a player, really understanding what it means to stay patient and just look at the shot in front of me instead of thinking ahead or worrying about what other girls are doing out there.
So I think just really trusting myself and believing that I can win out here. I've been in contention a few times this year. I think it's definitely been a great turn around for me, 2022.
So just plugging along and just keep doing what I'm doing.
Q. And you won a lot as an amateur. What's the difference between winning as an amateur and winning out here?
ANDREA LEE: It's tough to win out here. I mean, you have the best players in the world. I think as an amateur I didn't have as much pressure.
But like you said, my career has always kind of been on an incline from junior golf. I was the No. 1 junior golfer and amateur golfer and collegiate golfer, and once I got out here it kind of humbled me a little bit and I felt like I had to start over and just rethink the way I go about doing things.
But, yeah, just trusting myself I think is going to be the key out here to hopefully winning.
Q. This event, brand new in Cincinnati. What have you thought about the event so far and kind of the new atmosphere, new course, everything is new, especially with all the work that's been put in in this area?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I think the course is great. I really appreciate the work that's been done. Ever since we got five, six inches of rain out here, I think the maintenance staff has been doing a really great job. The greens are firming up compared to Monday, Tuesday.
So that's nice to see. Fairways are still soft, but everyone has to deal with it out here. Overall I think it's a great venue. There is a big turnout, which is great to see. It's a nice neighborhood, so, yeah, hopefully we'll come back in years to come.
