Quick Quotes
Q. Great playing today; do you want to talk me through your round a little bit? What was working well for you?
CATRIN NILSMARK: Oh, it was a wild round, to be honest. I was a bit all over from the tee, so I got lucky on a couple of my tee shots that I had a second shot for the green. I really hit some good irons, though. I took advantage of -- I made some good putts after my irons. But overall -- I stuffed it in a bunker, pretty much unplayable -- I hit the flag on one hole. Pretty much, yeah, a wild round. I'm a little surprised that I was 4-under. I thought I was 2-under when I hit my last putt.
Q. What from today's round will you take with you going into tomorrow's round?
CATRIN NILSMARK: That it's possible -- so after the 10th hole, I said to my caddie, my husband, that we're not hitting the driver anymore, and that worked really well. So I think I'll take that with me, that I might not need the driver tomorrow. I'm just going to hit my 3-wood, unless I find something super good on the range this afternoon.
Q. What does it mean to you to be playing in the U.S. Senior Women's Open?
CATRIN NILSMARK: I cannot really tell you how excited I am. I could almost cry when you ask me that because I turned 50 the first year of the U.S. Open, and I thought I was going to play, and I sort of lost my interest a little bit around that time where I didn't have time to practice. I live in Sweden. I asked for an exemption for the last two years because it's such an effort to come over and qualify. So I qualified -- and last year I finished top 15 in the LPGA Senior, which top 15 got you in, but no, they changed it to top 10, so I had to go and qualify this year in Washington and I made it, so I'm super, super, super happy. I couldn't be happier.
