Quick Quotes
Q. Cara, last group of the day, last birdie of the day there on No. 9. Just take me through what the second day at Massereene was like for you.
CARA GAINER: Yeah, it was a great funky, quirky course. I was really looking forward to playing it. It was definitely a lot firmer than in the practice rounds, so I kind of felt like I was playing a bit of a new course today. Playing a lot to the front number and letting it to roll out, a bit kind of links style. So, yeah, I've really enjoyed it.
Q. A lot of people have said coming from the last couple weeks of our LPGA Tour swing, being able to go from links to target, but Massereene is a little bit of both sometimes. You talked about the quirkiness. What do you think it's suited well for your game today?
CARA GAINER: I think, to be honest, I just played the par-5s nicely. Tried to stick in on the par-3s and take my chances when I could really.
I drove it really nice today, so it's all about hitting the fairway and then play the front number, as I said. So that was sort of my game plan for the day.
Q. The last bird on No. 9, how good did that feel to close out like that?
CARA GAINER: Yeah, I was a bit gutted because I bogeyed 8. I was in the bunker on the right and just didn't hit a great bunker shot.
So I was actually 5-under before that, so I really wanted to birdie the last to get back to five.
Yeah, nice putt on the last, so it was a great feeling.
Q. A couple weeks ago, being able to tie your career best finish on the LET in Belgium and coming out here and seeing your name close to the top of the leaderboard, how does that make you feel after all the work you've been putting in recently?
CARA GAINER: Yeah, I've been seeing my game really trend in the right direction. I know I can shoot a low number, so it's just really about staying patient and trust that I'm good enough to be out here with all these top players. So, yeah.
Q. You'll be back at Galgorm tomorrow for the next two days. What are you looking forward to getting back out to Galgorm, and how does that track suit your game well?
CARA GAINER: Yeah, I think Galgorm suits me a bit better than here. Just it's a bit sort of wider, not quite as many doglegs and things like that. I can really sort of let loose with the driver.
Yeah, I don't think it's going to be quite as firm, so be a bit more target golf, which I like. Yeah, just try and hole some putts.
Q. These conditions over the last to days, I mean, crossing the fingers for the same the next two days?
CARA GAINER: Yeah. You wouldn't think this is Northern Ireland, would you? Yeah, it's 38 degrees in the England at the minute, so, yeah, this is absolutely perfect golf weather.
