U.S. WOMEN'S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

August 11, 2022

Saki Baba

University Place, Washington, USA

Chambers Bay

Quick Quotes

Q. How does it feel to be a quarterfinalist in the U.S. Amateur?

SAKI BABA: I'm really excited right now.

Q. How difficult is this tournament, playing 36 holes a day after three days of 18 holes? How difficult is it mentally and physically?

SAKI BABA: I think it's more the being in match play and 36 holes. I've never done it before. But on the other hand I really enjoyed it. As much as I shouldn't be saying that, I really enjoyed it more than anything.

Q. What parts of match play do you like best?

SAKI BABA: It makes it really challenging for me, so when I make the putt it's more like I have to make it. If I go for the shot, I have to do it this way. It makes it really, really more serious, so I think that's what's interesting.

Q. After playing in the U.S. Women's Open, the U.S. Girls' Junior and now the U.S. Women's Amateur, this is your third USGA championship this summer. Does that give you a little bit more confidence heading into the quarterfinals?

SAKI BABA: I think it really made me adjust to the surroundings being in the United States and made it interesting. For me to be able -- if I win it I can look forward to being in the U.S. Open and the British Open, so I think that's what's going to keep me going on.
