Quick Quotes
Q. Talk about that match.
BAILEY SHOEMAKER: Oh, my God. I don't even know what to say. I knew I had to play good. Obviously Amari is one of the best players in the world, in the country. Future teammate, too, so I knew she wasn't going to take it easy on me. No. 1 on the team, I had to step up 100 percent, and I knew I had to get my putter hot, and I definitely did. Still missed a couple of putts, but I knew if I kept walking them in, having confidence, I'd be all right.
Q. You're a quarterfinalist. How does that sound?
BAILEY SHOEMAKER: It sounds pretty great. I made quarterfinals in U.S. Girls last year. When the field is dwindling and there's not many people on the range left, you feel pretty special.
Q. As a quarterfinalist you're exempt into next year. How does that feel to take the pressure off of you're going to be in this event for a long time?
BAILEY SHOEMAKER: I hope so. I was actually exempt going into next year anyway, so that was a little bit of a relief this week 100 percent. I know a lot of people in quarterfinals, they're stressed out to make quarterfinals, so I'm glad that I didn't have to worry about that. That probably helps me a little bit. Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
Q. Double-round day today, a draining one. What's the mindset going into tomorrow?
BAILEY SHOEMAKER: I'm going to good get some good food and some good rest. I'm not sure of my time of my matches, but hopefully I get to sleep in a little bit, go grind again tomorrow, hopefully make some more putts.
