BRIANNA NAVARROSA: 39 actually.

Q. You knocked off Rachel Heck; what was that like?

BRIANNA NAVARROSA: That was a really good match. When I'd stick it, she'd stick it closer, so it was a continuous fight from 1 to 17.

I played my best golf I feel like that first round. I really didn't leave anything off or out on the golf course, so I'm really happy about that.

Q. Now you knocked off the top seed in Bennett there, 21 holes. What were you feeling throughout the match?

BRIANNA NAVARROSA: Honestly, I wasn't -- I was just more so like be patient, it's a marathon, don't get too tired.

I think only until honestly the last hole was when I got really, really tired. But throughout the whole thing I wasn't really nervous. When she made the birdies, all I could think was I didn't do anything wrong on that hole, she just made the better shot.

Q. Back-and-forth matches like that, do you enjoy that?

BRIANNA NAVARROSA: I do. Actually I love adrenaline. Sounds weird, but I really like it because it really keeps my blood pumping and I feel like I play my best golf when I'm under pressure.

Q. You're a quarterfinalist in the U.S. Amateur. How does that make you feel?

BRIANNA NAVARROSA: It hasn't sunk in yet. I'm more so just like, oh, I play again tomorrow. But I'm really excited. I haven't made it this far, and I think my game is the best where it's been in a very long time, so I'm very happy with that.

Q. What are the strengths in the game right now?

BRIANNA NAVARROSA: I think my iron play is great, my accuracy. My driver I think is good, too, on this course. The fairways are not wide here, and the par-3s, too, I'm able to really stick it close when I need to.

Q. Being a quarterfinalist this year gets you exempt into next year's Women's Am at Bel Air. Did you know that?

BRIANNA NAVARROSA: No, I didn't.

Q. Well, you are, so congratulations.

BRIANNA NAVARROSA: Yay, that's really exciting. It's closer to home for me.
