Quick Quotes
Q. How well did you play for a few under 66 here at the Senior Open Championship?
SCOTT PAREL: Yeah it was a good day. Solid playing. A few of the easier holes I didn't birdie on the back nine but you're never going to complain about shooting under par around this golf course.
Q. Give us a sense of conditions. It seemed quite calm out there. Was it conducive to good scoring?
SCOTT PAREL: For sure, the golf course is in fantastic shape and the wind is basically doing nothing.
Yeah, I'm surprised there are not a lot lower scores than there are. I just think the fact that it's the Senior Open, probably guys don't think they are supposed to shoot 7- or 8-under. Not surprised; Pádraig, he's still got some holes left.
Q. What pleased you about your play this morning?
SCOTT PAREL: My patience. I made some birdies and I hit back-to-back big-time lip-outs for birdies that I thought I made on 7 and 8 maybe or something but I just stayed patient and said, yeah, keep playing like I'm playing, I'm going to make some birdies.
Q. Were you showing some form coming into this week?
SCOTT PAREL: I was. I'm getting better the last couple weeks. I played well early in the year and won and was a little scrappy in the middle but the last few weeks, my game has been coming around.
Q. What can you take from this round going forward into the rest of the week?
SCOTT PAREL: I should have a lot of confidence. I'm hitting the ball where I'm looking most of the time and my putting has been on form a little bit better. My putting has been a little bit suspect here lately but it's a lot better today.
