Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Sung Hyun Park. Really nice round today. 4-under 67 to kickoff the week here at Evian. Made a lot of birdies on the front nine, which was your back nine. How did you make the four birdies in a row there?
SUNG HYUN PARK: I think putts were good, but overall my shots were not as well so I wasn't really satisfied with that.
I'm happy to have ended on a high note.
Q. This is a really tough golf course. I feel like ball striking is really key. To grind that number out, what were you relying on today besides putting?
SUNG HYUN PARK: Like I said, I think it's a course where my shots have to be really good. I tried to find some good ball striking, and I think it worked throughout the round.
The course is quite mountainous, so I think that's something I'll have to think about playing the rest of the week.
Q. Any highlights specifically? Any birdies stand out to you today's some of your better holes?
SUNG HYUN PARK: I think I would say the second shot on No.4. I think I was pretty lucky. It was about 50 centimeters from the hole and I think was able to carry the momentum throughout the rest of the round.
Q. Again, off to a pretty good start. I know you weren't really satisfied with it today. What will you take with you and work on heading into the next three rounds?
SUNG HYUN PARK: I think coming into this tournament my goal was to play consistently all four rounds. I had a good first round and for the rest of the rounds I would like to take it shot by shot, hole by hole instead of thinking of the results.
Q. Last question in English. This is a golf course you've played a lot. How does that prior experience help you coming into another major this week?
SUNG HYUN PARK: I think this is my sixth year playing at Evian Championship. I started playing here in 2016. Very familiar with the course, and that helps for sure. I'm also able to like see the greens in my head without looking at them so I think that really helps.
