THE 150TH OPEN

July 17, 2022

Sergio Garcia

St Andrews, Fife, Scotland, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. How did you enjoy the week?

SERGIO GARCIA: Not very much. I enjoyed the crowd, but that was about it.

Q. There's been a lot of people talking this week about taking St Andrews in and everything that's been going on, a lot of people have been talking about St Andrews. And Ian Poulter said this may be his last open at St Andrews, he was just going to enjoy it. Did you take a reset again today just in case you don't come back here?

SERGIO GARCIA: Well, I mean, I had my moments, don't get me wrong. But I don't know, when is the next one here?

Q. Could be 2030, but we don't know yet.

SERGIO GARCIA: 2030. Yeah, probably tough. And the way everyone is reacting to us, probably even tougher. It is what it is. Things come to an end. It's the way it is.

Q. What would be your most treasured St Andrews memory if you aren't to play here again?

SERGIO GARCIA: I don't know. I have some good ones, obviously. Unfortunately never got to play with Seve here. When I played my first Open here, he was already retired. So unfortunately didn't get to do that. That would have been fun at least that I can remember. But it's okay.

Q. If this is your last Open, is it a regret you've not won this tournament?

SERGIO GARCIA: I wouldn't say regret. Obviously a little bit of disappointment because I've been close and I love this championship and these crowds very much. Sometimes you don't get what you want or what you wish.
