Mixed Zone
Q. Tyrrell, how pleased were you about today?
TYRRELL HATTON: It's kind of mixed emotions, I guess. Obviously we got off to a perfect start really, 4-under through six. Missed a half decent chance on 7, but the three-putt on 8. Then I guess obviously the three-putt on 9, missing a really short one there for birdie kind of just really took momentum away from us, and we missed another good chance on 10 and 11.
Somehow made par on 12 after hitting it in the gorse bush. Yeah, just didn't really kind of click for us kind of coming in, which is a shame. Obviously you get off to a great start and you hope that you can kind of finish it off, but it didn't really work out that way for us today.
Overall, not too bad of a week, I guess.
Q. Just taking away the golf, just the experience of being here for The 150th, how special has it been to be here?
TYRRELL HATTON: Yeah, it's been brilliant. The crowds have been fantastic. Certainly this weekend cheering us on and cheering everyone on and creating a really special atmosphere to play in.
Obviously playing here at the home of golf is always special anyway, but the crowd have been great this week. It's been a great experience as a player.
Q. And you must have that belief as well you can win this one day?
TYRRELL HATTON: Yeah, obviously you need it all to come together at the right time. I generally have a decent record on links courses.
I guess, if I could choose one of the four to win anyway, it would be The Open. Yeah, it's easier said than done, but hopefully I'll be back next year and we'll give it another go.
Q. What's coming up for you now?
TYRRELL HATTON: Well, it would be, I think, probably two weeks off, and then we'll play Wyndham. Then it's into the FedEx. I think we'll move up a little bit. We were 60th in the FedEx coming into this week. I was hoping for a really good finish this week so that I could have three weeks off before the playoffs.
Yeah, I want to solidify at least being into the second one. So I'm probably going to have to play Wyndham now. I need a good week there to do that.
Two weeks off. Going on holiday next week, which will be great. I'm looking forward to that. Then a week of practise before Wyndham.
Q. Two previous times you were here and didn't make the cut. This was much more solid. What do you put that down to?
TYRRELL HATTON: Well, the first time I was an 18-year-old amateur. Then the next time I think I qualified at the Scottish Open, the week before, I think I finished second. Was it Inverness, at Castle Stuart in 2015, I think? I might be getting mixed up. Either way, I think I would have qualified through the Scottish Open to get in.
So having a big week the week before, I might have just been a bit tired. Again, it's a new week. You try your best every week. Some work out better than others.
I didn't really look into that too much. Obviously my past visits here, I've done well at the Dunhill. So it's a course I know. Yeah, we tried our best. That's all you can do.
Q. Experience is really important in this. What can you learn from this that you can take on?
TYRRELL HATTON: I don't know. I've done well in The Open in the past. I think we've had a fifth and a sixth before. So it's not like it's new territory. I mean, I think we're tied 10th at the moment. It would be nice if we could cling on to that. It's always a pretty solid week if you're finishing top 10 in a major. There's not really too much else I can take from that.
