Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Team Youth on Course. Jennifer, I'll start with you. I believe I was on the green when I saw a nice little birdie putt yesterday from Lizette to close things out on 18. Taking that into today and then just overall, what was best ball like for the two of you?
JENNIFER KUPCHO: Yeah. I feel like we played pretty solid yesterday. We kind of struggled and then really came back and grinded I thought.
Took that into today, and she played really well today. I think for the most part I felt like I was just there cheering her along, but in the end I hit a couple of good putts at the end. Ham and egged it pretty well.
Q. Ham and egged is kind of the theme of the week for everyone. Lizette, coming off of yesterday, like I said, that birdie on 18, how did you feel during this best ball format?
LIZETTE SALAS: You know, I was a little nervous. Playing my own ball, but there's this level of comfort when I play with Jennifer, and we kind of started where we left off back in September in Toledo.
Yeah, we got off to a shaky start, but that's how it was back at Solheim and ended up winning both matches. She's there when I need her, and we finished strong both days, yesterday and today. And she read -- she reads greens like nobody else, so I have asked her for a few reads, and just to have that certification, that confidence from her means a lot.
Yeah, just wanted play well for her and for our team.
Q. Jennifer, we talked to Stacy Lewis earlier this week about some of the Solheim teams coming back and playing this week. What does it mean to be paired up with your friend here and being able to play so well just remembering that Solheim Cup experience?
JENNIFER KUPCHO: Yeah, I think it definitely gave us confidence coming into this week. Playing so well at Solheim, I mean, that's the hardest thing in this kind of format is to find a good partner that you work well with and mesh well with, get along with.
To be able to have found her at Solheim and now to do it here I think, like she said, we just picked up where we left off.
Q. How much fun, Lizette, is it to have an event like this on schedule before kind of the intense summer swing over there in Europe?
LIZETTE SALAS: Yeah, it's a good fun, relaxed environment. Well, not really relaxed, but, you know, just to change things up. To partner with your friends and to just really just play our game, but getting a good solid partner that complements your game is there to pick you up when you need to.
It's nice to line things up a little bit before it gets intense the next couple of weeks.
Q. Absolutely. Jennifer, how much fun are you having on a course like this with Lizette beside you?
JENNIFER KUPCHO: A lot of fun. I think I'm smiling a lot more than I normally do, so that's a good thing, I guess. I never smile, so here we are.
Q. I don't think that's necessarily true, but --
JENNIFER KUPCHO: A lot of people think it's true.
LIZETTE SALAS: Show them choppers, man.
Q. Lizette, what will you take away from the last two days as you get ready for the foursome format tomorrow?
LIZETTE SALAS: Just take away how we're just kind of there for each other. You know, our games are there, and it's just funny how she'll hit it close and then I'll either chip in or make a bomb, and then she'll just have to pick up.
It's really funny how this format is. You know, some holes, the longer holes, she takes care of it. As soon as I have wedge, I know what my job is. It's really just a fun course.
We'll just keep doing our thing the next two days and just have some fun. She'll definitely smile a lot more. (Laughing).
Q. Well, thank you both. Great job today.
