Q. What was the hardest part of the afternoon and just kind of dealing with those conditions?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I think trying to figure out where the ball was going to roll out to.

No, seriously, it was just so firm out there, and the wind was blowing. It was just playing tough. It's tough to get the ball close to the hole.

There's a few holes where I don't know if it's possible to even hit the fairway, like if you're going to take the bunkers out of play, you can't hit the fairway. So we're kind of just trying to manage our way around the golf course and play into certain spots.

Q. What are you going to expect from your game tomorrow? What's going to make you content when it's all said and done? I know the pin locations, yeah, but what's going to make you content?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I'm just trying to keep myself in position, avoid the bunkers, and just stay in position, really. That's all I'm trying to do.

There's certain spots where you can attack this golf course, and there's a lot of spots where you can't. So just trying to manage expectations and really just trying to execute and hit good shots.

Q. Scottie, you're having a great year, one really breakout year, No. 1 ranked player in the world at all majors. Not in the featured group. Do you feel like you're in a way being a little overlooked by the golf world?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I don't really pay attention to that kind of stuff. For me, I'm just showing up and trying to play good golf. I thought I was in a featured pairing today. The guys I played with are pretty solid golfers.

I mean, it's y'all's opinion. It's all perception. For me, I'm just out here trying to play good golf.

Q. Was it even firmer than the practise rounds or surprisingly firmer?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I don't know if it surprised me as much as I think it was just so new, like I knew they were going to make it firm, but at the same time, like I've never experienced that before in tournament golf. So it was definitely a bit different, but it was a lot of fun kind of trying to figure things out out there.

Q. Have you seen a course this firm before?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: No. I kid you not, I think the fairways are faster than the greens in some spots.

Q. They actually said they are.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: They are? I'm glad I'm not losing my mind.
