Press Conference
J. KUBLER/D. Evans
6-1, 6-4, 6-3
THE MODERATOR: Dan, tough one today. Give us your thoughts.
DANIEL EVANS: Yeah, Jason played very well. Yeah, I have to give him credit. Yeah, not easy to take, but he was better than me. Yeah, that was that.
Yeah, it's tough to take, but he was better than me today. That's all I can say really. I don't think I played too badly. He was aggressive. He had a good game plan. Well onto him and his coach to put the game plan together and well onto Jason for carrying it out.
Q. You seemed a bit frustrated at the end of the third set about the timing of his medical timeout.
DANIEL EVANS: No, I wasn't frustrated. I just asked why we couldn't do the medical the first time the physio come onto the court in the second set. That was all. Just asked the question. That was that.
Q. You were saying he played well. Will there be things you look back at tonight that you think you could have missed out on?
DANIEL EVANS: No. I mean, just saying to the people with me, it's sport, isn't it? Some days you don't have a good day. That's why they roll the balls out. If it was done on rankings, there would be no tournament.
Yeah, that's what it is. It hurts, but you always want to do well here. I've done well here in the past. But the facts are I lost and he was too good. Yeah, I'll be moving on pretty swiftly.
The beauty of this game is there's another chance just around the corner.
Q. At the same time you started Nottingham four or five weeks ago preparing for this, it is the second day, is it difficult to take?
DANIEL EVANS: Yeah, as I said, it hurts. I'm a big boy now. There will be plenty more chances. Although you guys think this is the two weeks, there's three other slams, there's 30 other tournaments in the year I'll play. These things will happen. That's what happens.
Again, it's disappointing, it's frustrating, it hurts. It's not nice to have a fiancée, coach, all them lose as well. It's not just me. It's a team effort.
That's how it is: you got to pick yourself up and go again, otherwise not going to get anywhere being disappointed about it.
Q. Peniston won today, Alastair Gray, Draper. Do you feel missing out on the party sort of thing?
DANIEL EVANS: No, no. I can have a party on my own (smiling).
