J. PEGULA/H. Dart
4-6, 6-3, 6-1
THE MODERATOR: Harriet, could you give us some thoughts on today's match.
HARRIET DART: Obviously disappointed to not be through. When you're playing against a top-10 player, give them a little bit of a gap, it's kind of hard to come back from that.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. It seemed in the second half of the match you were starting to get a bit frustrated. Going into the match, how did you feel emotionally and how did that change during the match?
HARRIET DART: I mean, I was obviously frustrated. I was missing so many balls, playing pretty average. Naturally I was getting frustrated.
I don't think beforehand I felt any different to how I have done prior to any other matches. I knew that I needed to keep my level, and I wasn't able to do that. I think I was probably most frustrated about when you get a lead, not being able to keep it.
Obviously against a top-10 player, you can't drop your level because they're only going to get better.
Q. In the future when you get into that situation, can that be a difficult thing to come out of? How do you flip the switch to get back into the zone?
HARRIET DART: At the end of the day it's about finding solutions. Today I didn't find any. That's something I'll need to go back to the drawing board and kind of work on.
Every match is about finding solutions. Today I just didn't find that.
Q. On the last point you were saying something to the umpire. Did you feel like Pegula's challenge was late on the match point?
HARRIET DART: It was late. If the umpire is tracking the ball, she's already hit the ball, because the umpire said to me that the challenge was after she hit the ball but before the ball landed. That can't be true because she already hit the ball. If you're following the ball, which the umpire does, it's then late.
