6-3, 6-1, 6-2
THE MODERATOR: Carlos, great match today. Give us your thoughts how it went.
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, I played unbelievable today. As I said, this was my best performance so far. So I'm really happy with the level, and I will try to keep this level into the next round.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. Talking about the next round, what do you think about Jannik Sinner? Do you consider him and you the two most talented young players in Wimbledon?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, obviously Jannik is a good player. He plays unbelievable. He has a great level here on grass. I mean, he has won really good matches here, so it's going to be a really tough round.
But obviously I'm going to enjoy. So playing against Jannik is always tough. I like to play these kind of matches, these kind of challenge.
Well, right now I would say Jannik and I are the youngest player in the draw right now, I think so. Well, maybe we are the most talented player, but obviously there are a lot of young players as well that they play unbelievable. Well, I would say that out of youngster, let's say.
Q. What is your secret? Monday you struggle with a similar player like Struff. Today you outplay. How do you learn that good in four days?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Every match is a war, let's say. Every match you can play unbelievable, you can play your worst match. Obviously on Monday was my first match on grass. It was really tough. Struff play unbelievable. I mean, in four, five days the training, the matches, you learn how to play more on grass, how to move more on grass.
Of course, in every match you play against different player. Maybe one player is tougher to you, and the other player is more easier, let's say.
But now I feel more comfortable play on grass, and I feel better on grass right now.
Q. You said it's your best match on grass today. Is there anything that made it your best match? Did you learn anything from the first two matches that felt differently today?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: I don't know what to say. I mean, just hours on court. I mean, to move is like I'm more comfortable to move on grass right now than the first round, for example. Every training, every match that I play, that I train, I mean, I feel more comfortable, and hope in the next round feel more comfortable.
Every day that I pass, I feel more ready, let's say, on grass.
Q. You were talking about the grass. Do you think your style of play actually helps? You have a short backswing and are very comfortable at the net. Are these things that also help you transition?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Of course. I mean, on grass you have to play aggressive, you have to go to the net, you have to, I mean, try to play more aggressive than the opponent. That's my idea that I try in every match, to don't let the opponent dominate the game, dominate the match. Just trying to put my game on the match.
Right now I think I'm did it. I'm trying to in the next round did it again.
Q. How do you know Sinner? Did you ever talk to him, make jokes? Also, you played many times with Berrettini, but not too many with Sinner. What do you know of him also as a tennis player outside and inside the court?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, outside the court we have a good relationship. I mean, I talk to him. When I see him in the locker room, off the court, I make some jokes.
Well, we have a good relationship outside the court. Of course, inside the court I know him a little bit. I play him in Paris last year. Of course, we trained a couple of times. Yeah, we practice a couple of times with him.
I know his game. I know what I have to play with the match. I know him.
Q. When you speak with Sinner, do you speak Spanish, Italian, or do you speak Spanish and he speaks Italian?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: We speak Spanish. I don't know how to speak Italian at the moment. We speak Spanish.
Q. His Spanish is good?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Yeah. He's good. He has to improve, but his Spanish good (smiling).
