Q. What was going through your mind, 6 through 9?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: It was sucky. I wasn't playing well. Some of the shots late in the round yesterday were creeping in early on which was a bit of trouble. Had to dig deep. Stay really patient. Austin did a good job of keeping me calm.

Yeah, it was a grind. It was weird, the wind really laid down there and it made it seem easier and that probably helped a bit as well.

Q. Picked up your third win this season. Obviously early in the year people were talking about it's been two, three years since your last one. How much did that team win with Patrick help your confidence?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, just to get over the hump, honestly, it was big. It was a team and it was incredible to share that with him. We've shared other team wins together and it definitely was a kick starter for me as you can tell.

Q. This is a third title continue this season, three in a row now including JP McManus Pro-Am last week. This is becoming a regular thing?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, that sounds nice. It's been incredible. The travelers and this one were very different. But equally as reward in their own ways.

Q. Wasn't easy out there today, was it. Got a bit tight?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, I was not playing very well. I came out of the gates very nicely and kind of hit a wall and was looking a bit sketchy for a little bit as I like to say, and it was nice to sort of steady the ship on the way in.

Q. How important is that to know that you can grind out a win even if you're not playing your best golf ahead of The Open next week?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: It's what links golf promotes, getting the ball in the hole. I was telling myself that, it doesn't really have to be pretty. It wasn't very pretty, unfortunately, but I got the ball in the hole and one better than everyone else.

Q. How lovely going into the open as the most recent winner and one to watch?

XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, I'm not sure if that's like a curse or something. I'm going to ignore all the media -- as possible. There's a few guys like to tell me about history and all, but I'm obviously in good form and going to try to carry that into next week.
