TPC Deere Run
Quick Quotes
Q. Big sigh of relief there for J.T. You are the first player in 30 years to win in wire to wire fashion at the John Deere Classic. That sigh of relief says a lot. Tell us what it took.
J.T. POSTON: It is hard. Wire to wire, having the lead for so that it's just hard not to think about that fine line all week.
I tried to stick to the game plan. Got off to a great start and then kind of started to try and get some back. Hit a lot of good shots down the stretch. Flener did a great job keeping my head in it and focused on the next one.
Q. Talked all day about how calm you seemed no matter what was happening. Can you tells us what was happening in your body and what you proved to yourself that you can push through that and into the finish line?
J.T. POSTON: I was just trying to breathe. I was really -- I think there were a lot of nerves, a lot more than the first few days. I was just battling through them. I think after today day, after this week, I feel like knowing I can play with those nerves and I can still win, still shoot a solid score considering the pressure and trying to win out here.
Q. You know who might have been more nervous than you, your fiancée Kelly. You guys are recently engaged. You're soon to be married. How exciting is this? Feels like when good things are happening off the course it makes it a little bit easier for things to happen on.
J.T. POSTON: It's great. Life is good right now. Couldn't be happier. Excited to get married in December, and getting our dog back here soon in the next week or two, so life is good.
Q. Who was more nervous, you or your fiance?
KELLY COX: I think I honestly was, but I wasn't there for the first win, so this was extremely special for me and I'm so proud of him.
Q. Cole said he was watching you and a little bit concerned, so we're glad that you pulled through. You have punched your ticket to the Open Championship. First time, what does it mean to be headed across the pond?
J.T. POSTON: I can't wait. I've always wanted to play in one of those at any venue, but first one to be in St. Andrews and the 150th, I can't wait to get there and see what it's like.
