Q. I had a front row seat today watching your round. Five birdies, unbelievable golf. Just two bogeys. Talk to me about what you like about this golf course?

CHARLES HOWELL III: The John Deere, they were good to me back in 2000; it was one of my first starts as a pro. They gave me a sponsor invite and I've loved the place ever since.

Clair Peterson, it's his last year, but, man, been good to myself and my family over years, and we enjoy coming back.

Q. Sure happy to have you here. Talk about tee to green approach. You've been playing well all year. What do you credit that to, long game performance?

CHARLES HOWELL III: I spent a lot of time with the Titleist guys last week working with the new driver they just had come out.

Yeah, it fits my a little bit better. A little bit faster ball speed, which at my age, we're looking for every bit of that playing against these kids.

It's a course that fits my eye. I do enjoy it. I love the layout. Over the years it's treated me okay.
