THE MODERATOR: Here with Sei Young Kim, past KPMG Women's PGA Championship winner and opening round 71. Sei Young, you started on No. 10, and it was an exciting front nine for you. You made the turn at even, but lots of birdies, bogeys, a little worse on your card. How did you feel like you were playing today? That just seemed interesting.
SEI YOUNG KIM: When I started the first hole, I made a chip from the bunker shot. Yeah, it was a good vibe with starting.
11 is second hole to me. That is par-5, so it makes it easy to birdie. And I have four-putt on the, yeah, hole 12. It felt like -- it wasn't good, yeah. I was really disappointed.
I try to feel fresh and, okay, it's starting again. Yeah, I keep talking to myself. Yeah, I try to be positive. I had two birdie from 18, 17. It's not easy hole, so, yeah, it's kind of present.
THE MODERATOR: Yes, absolutely. Then another birdie on No. 7 to get you under par. Are you just happy to be done and to end up with a good round after today?
SEI YOUNG KIM: Yeah, because the course got the rain in the morning and last night, so it's long, so it's not easy to play. I'm pleased with 1-under today, yeah.
THE MODERATOR: How was the golf course? This morning, as you said, lots of rain. Was it raining at all during your round, or was it mostly dry?
SEI YOUNG KIM: Yeah, the course was wet when I practiced, so it's totally different course I feel like. My strategy is different.
But the course is a really good setup. Good testing of the golf this week. Yeah, really nice golf course.
THE MODERATOR: I know this championship changes venues every year, but you've never finished worse than 25th at this event. What is it about this championship that challenges you and seems to be so well for you?
SEI YOUNG KIM: KPMG tournament always picks a really good course and make me -- what's that -- motivation. Yeah, more focus this week. Every KPMG week. I'm always excited to play KPMG.
THE MODERATOR: Tomorrow second round. You'll have the morning. Hopefully, it should be dry. What do you hope to see tomorrow that will help you get through to the weekend?
SEI YOUNG KIM: This week really important tee shot. So even every single shot. Every shot I commit and do my best. Yeah, I just finish what I want to play.
