Quick Quotes
Q. First of all, thoughts on your performance today?
INGRID LINDBLAD: It was good. Started off with a lot of two-putts from 30, 40 feet away. Then I made a putt on 8, which was kind of nice because I just made par until then. Struggled to make a par on 9, and then I just kept making my pars. Then I took advantage of the short par 5s.
Q. Seemed like a steady round with those three birdies. You must be very happy with the performance overall?
INGRID LINDBLAD: Yeah, it starts off with a couple of holes into the wind and to the right so it's hard for us righties to just put the ball in play.
So I was really proud of how I handled that, and was able to get around the front nine on 1-under.
Q. You mentioned the weather conditions. How did you handle the wind?
INGRID LINDBLAD: I like to play in the wind because half the field is like oh, my God, it's blowing. I like to play in the wind. And it's been a while since I actually did it.
And links golf is like anything can happen; you can hit a bad shot and it's still good, and you can hit a good shot and it's bad. You've just got to deal with it.
Q. As you said, the course here is very different to what you might experience in the States. How do you approach preparation for links golf versus perhaps what you would usually expect in the United States?
INGRID LINDBLAD: Where I practise at home, it's kind of like a links golf facility. You're able to hit show low chip shots that runs up on the green.
Whenever you get here, you have to put the ball in play, make sure you have the wind correctly, and it's a battle, because anything can happen.
Q. You had a great season so far, great U.S. Women's Open. How confident are you about going all the way this week and reaching the final?
INGRID LINDBLAD: It's a long week. You just have to be patient. It's one of those weeks where you have to save your energy. I'm happy as far as it takes me, and today was a good start.
