Quick Quotes
Q. So just some general thoughts on your performance today?
AMELIA WILLIAMSON: I was happy with how I performed. Obviously it was a bit of a struggle going out with the wind coming into your face, but I know I played a lot of links golf to stay patient, and I knew the back few holes were coming downwind so I was just waiting for the turn, really, trying to hang in there.
Q. Tell us about the eagle you had on the back nine?
AMELIA WILLIAMSON: Oh, yeah, it was special. I just hit driver, 8-iron and then holed the putt. It was very simple. Nothing -- nothing crazy. It was extremely gettable and reachable today. So I wouldn't be surprised if there's other people who made eagles and lots of birdies.
Q. The weather conditions seemed to have calmed down this afternoon. Did that play a big part in the scoring that you managed to achieve?
AMELIA WILLIAMSON: No. Because the wind was still up on the way out. It didn't start dying down probably until I got to around 13. And at that point, the only holes I had left were the ones coming downwind. So the wind is going to be different every day, whether you get the luck of the draw, and I think today -- wasn't bad weather, wasn't good, it was just how it was.
Q. You know this course very well, of course, and does that play in your favor, you think, for your chances this week?
AMELIA WILLIAMSON: I know it well. So I wouldn't say it's a disadvantage. But I don't get to come over here and play that much or as much as I would like to but I would say the biggest advantage I would have would be if the wind was to do a 180. The wind today is exactly the same as it was yesterday in the practise round.
So if it was to do a 180, as with any links course, the course plays totally different and I've seen it in every single wind direction whereas other competitors have not.
