Quick Quotes
Q. You must be delighted, was that eagle birdie finish?
JONATHAN BROOMHEAD: Yeah.
Q. Was it a chip-in on 17?
JONATHAN BROOMHEAD: No, I hit it just over the back, I didn't think it was going to reach there and found a decent lie and managed to chip that one in.
Q. So that was -- about birdied the last. Did you know at that stage you were heading towards a 7-under total?
JONATHAN BROOMHEAD: I did. I did know that 7-under was leading. I saw the scoreboard there on 15 tee box I think, or 16 tee box. Yeah, I made two silly drops on 15 and 16 and then so I knew I needed to chase a bit. So I hit a good drive down 18 and 2-putted.
Q. So you'll be joint-top qualifier, so obviously a good couple days more, you must be really pleased with how it's going?
JONATHAN BROOMHEAD: Yeah, the boys have been out here for the last four or five weeks. So you know, we've kind of got used to the conditions. But yeah, I'm very happy with the way I played in these past two days and I'm looking forward to keep it going to the match play.
Q. Have you played The Amateur before?
JONATHAN BROOMHEAD: No, this is my first time. It's absolutely lovely. The practise round on Sunday, I did get a bit frustrated. The wind was a bit tough and I was not too happy after that. Actually, I went into yesterday having no expectations and just went to play my golf and see what I could do.
Q. Do you have any history of match play?
JONATHAN BROOMHEAD: No, nothing too excellent. I lost in the quarterfinals of the South African Amateur this year. I've had a few decent results, nothing meant to be crazy about, but yeah, looking forward to it.
Q. I'm just thinking, there was a South African winner at Lytham a few years ago, Mr. Els, wasn't it?
JONATHAN BROOMHEAD: Yeah, that's correct. Hoping to follow his footstep in the way he played Lytham but yeah I'm looking forward to it.
I worked with Hans (ph) he works with a -- he's got experience, just engaging him. We've got Roger this week with us, and just asking him questions, he's played on the Tour for a while. Just quick pointers of what to do.
Q. Hoping the weather stays like this? Is this the type of conditions you're happy to play?
JONATHAN BROOMHEAD: Yeah, yesterday wasn't breezy. I think it was -- we were expecting it to get a lot worse. This weekend doesn't look to be too bad. So yeah, hoping -- the weather we had today was wonderful, so just hoping for it to be the same.
