Q. 2-under here today at St Annes Old Links to start your Amateur Championship campaign. How are you feeling about that?

CALUM SCOTT: Yeah, good. I played very solid all throughout the day, and got off to a rough start, a couple bogeys early on, and then I holed a really nice eagle putt on 6 to get the momentum going. Made a couple birdies after that. It was very solid and just kept it in play.

Q. Great work there on 6. Can you talk us through the eagle?

CALUM SCOTT: Yeah, so I hit my drive down, it's quite a long hole but it helps down off the right and I played draw and it helped, so it went further, and it was rolling quite far, daytime wind. So I had about 200 yards in, and hit an 8-iron into the green. Held like a 35-, 40-footer, which was really nice.

Q. Obviously the stroke-play rounds are all about qualifying for the match play, so how does that change how you might play a course, or what approach do you take to the stroke play?

CALUM SCOTT: Well, ideally, I wanted to come out with a solid first round so I wasn't stressing about tomorrow or having to post a number tomorrow. Just kind of just plot my way around, because Lytham is that kind of course, you don't want to make big numbers.

If you can keep it in play and just keep getting up and down, you're going to find yourself in a good spot for the match play.

Q. Obviously nicely position after today's round, so feeling stress-free?

CALUM SCOTT: Yeah, it's good. It feels good to post 2-under today. It's going to help going into Lytham tomorrow for sure.

Q. I don't know if you've seen the leaderboard, but your brother, Sandy, has also posted 2-under today. Nice to see both brothers right up there?

CALUM SCOTT: Yeah, it's good to see him back and playing solid again. I'm sure he's been missing the golf course, so it's nice to see him playing with some form again.

Q. He's obviously been injured, so I'm sure that must be quite tough for you as a brother to watch him sidelined as well?

CALUM SCOTT: Yeah, as I said, it's really good to see him back now and playing the golf that he should be playing.

Q. Both 2-under, is there a little bit of sibling rivalry?

CALUM SCOTT: No, we'll wait to see how things go, and then maybe.
