NBA FINALS: CELTICS VS. WARRIORS

June 10, 2022

Andrew Wiggins

Golden State Warriors

Game 4: Postgame

Warriors 107, Celtics 97

Q. You had 16 rebounds. Early on in the game, they were kind of controlling the glass. Was there something that clicked? Is there something that you heard, something you saw? What led you to attack like that?

ANDREW WIGGINS: I just know last game, they had, you know, out-rebounded us, and you know, got all the offensive rebounds. Today just wanted to come in and be aggressive on the boards and try to help out.

Q. What's going through your mind in that second half, particularly in the fourth quarter when they are swarming Steph and he's still getting great looks and knocking them down?

ANDREW WIGGINS: All you can do is watch. When Steph has the ball sometimes, you just watch and see what he does. He's the type of player that can go into the zone and get everyone involved.

It was an intense fourth quarter. It was a good, competitive quarter.

Q. You guys outscored the Celtics 15-0 in crunch time. What in your defense locked in for that final stretch?

ANDREW WIGGINS: We were helping each other out. We were helping each other out, playing together, playing aggressively on the defensive side, and most importantly just closing out. You know, not grabbing rebounds. No offensive rebounds. Didn't get second-chance points. So that was big.

Q. Given the condition or unknown of Steph's foot, how much did you wonder what you might get out of him today, and when did you know, oh, yeah, this is okay?

ANDREW WIGGINS: To be honest, as soon as he steps on the court, I just think Steph's going to be Steph, you know, regardless of who we are playing or how he's feeling. I feel like if he steps on the court, he's ready. He's going to go out there and dominate like he did tonight.

Q. Draymond and Jordan Poole and Klay have all talked about how you guys all need to step up to help Steph going forward because he kind of willed this one. What are the conversations about that in preparation for Monday?

ANDREW WIGGINS: Yeah, we all just got to do our part. We have a lot of guys that can go in the game and affect the game in different ways, and right now, everything is needed. Whatever anybody has to give, you don't want to look back a couple weeks from now and be like, I should have done that, I should have done that. You've got to leave it all on the floor.

Q. In your career, you've averaged something like four or five rebounds a game and in these playoffs, you're over seven now. What do you think has unlocked that part of your game even more?

ANDREW WIGGINS: I want to win. I know rebounding is a big part of that. I just want to win. And I feel like sometimes we play small. So I just try to go in there and rebound, help the team out.

Q. Draymond has a lot of focus on shots that he's missing or has not been able to get to, but what else are you seeing when you're out there? In and out of the game in the fourth quarter, but what did you see from him tonight?

ANDREW WIGGINS: Energy. You know his energy is going to be 100 percent, and he's still going to be on the floor on the defensive side, locking up, making plays. And he's still coaching guys on the floor. He's still the anchor.
