Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Jenny Shin coming of a 2&1 win over Annie Park. Tell me, how does it feel to be advancing from the round of 16 to the round of 8? Any thoughts?
JENNY SHIN: Pretty happy. Better than last year. (Smiling.)
So, yeah, I can't wait for the afternoon round.
Q. I see you were up by five at one point and Annie sort of battled back. How do you keep the composure as you saw the score maybe decreasing a little bit more than you would've liked?
JENNY SHIN: Yeah, you know, I've played enough match play where 5-up doesn't really mean anything, especially coming in the front nine.
I knew she was going to battle back. She didn't make it up here for nothing. So I tried my best. I struggled with my shots towards the end a little bit. I had to make quite a few par saves.
But I didn't lose any shots, so I'm pretty happy about that.
Q. What is so hard about the back nine here? Everyone has been struggling back there this week.
JENNY SHIN: I think it's mostly the wind. Like coming in on No. 16 it's a dogleg right so a fade is preferred, but it's coming in from the right into, so it's kind of tough with that fighting against you.
Then yesterday was downwind and you don't want to be through the fairway here, so I think there is a lot of variables with the wind.
Q. You mentioned you made a lot of par saves. How important are pars on a course like she's like and in a match play event?
JENNY SHIN: Yeah, so important. On 16 I had a third shot. I had to pitch it out because my tee shot was too far left.
And then my third shot uphill lie into the wind; I hit a really soft 6-iron and still didn't stop. So I didn't know like what I could have done, so I -- it's really important to get up and down because you don't -- you're not going to be able to stop the ball.
