Q. How proud of yourself were you of that effort?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, it was really good. I played well today. I was hitting it close, so there wasn't hard birdie putts.

Q. What did you find ahead of this week that maybe you didn't have last week?

CHARLEY HULL: To be fair, last week I didn't want to be there. I found it hard leaving home. I miss home a lot.

So I didn't arrive until like Tuesday afternoon and probably shouldn't have played.

Yeah, it was just struggling being away from home last week. I kind of think in my head this week I'm going home Sunday night, so I'm kind of happy.

Q. Speaking of home, it was a little bit of English weather out there today: a little cold, a little wet.

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, it wasn't too bad. It was actually quite a nice day, to be fair. I suppose it's cold compared to what you Americans are used to, because it can get pretty warm. Like last week it was quite warm.

Q. What did you find with your putting? I know you said you were hitting it close, but only 26 putts on the card, that's pretty impressive.

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, there wasn't long putts, to be fair, so didn't feel like I actually holed loads.

Q. Hitting approach shots sounds like were key today.

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, definitely. Got my irons dialed in, especially with my short wedges. Like inside 100 yards they were pretty good.

Q. Take us through a few of those birdies on the front nine.

CHARLEY HULL: Hit it within like a foot on 2.

Hit it to about five feet on 3.

Hit it to -- it was a long putt I holed on 4.

5 I hit it to like a foot.

Then 8 I hit it to like three feet.

Q. Were those wedges or short irons?

CHARLEY HULL: Wedges. It's a quite short golf course so it's very scorable.

Q. Awesome. You've had a lot of low rounds, but nothing like this recently. How much confidence does that give you heading into the rest of the week?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, it's good. I been playing well this season so far. Last five events I've had two Top 10s and I think 11th and like 20, so feel like my game is in good shape.

Q. That flight home extra motivation to get through this week?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, seriously. I can't wait to go home.
