DIO IMPLANT LA OPEN

April 23, 2022

Hannah Green

Los Angeles, California, USA

Wilshire Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Hannah Green. 2-under today, 69 here at Wilshire Country Club. Going to be a few back heading into the final round. Solid round. Just take us through it.

HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, definitely. I felt pretty flat with the putter today. Felt like I missed a lot of putts high and just a little bit too firm, so I feel like if I can get my speed control I can see a lot of putts going in.

But I feel like I haven't played my entire best, so I'm hoping tomorrow I can kind of get everything to go my way and try and put as much pressure on Nasa as possible.

Q. Let's talk about your ball striking. 15 of 18 greens; 13 of 14 fairways today.

HANNAH GREEN: Uh-huh.

Q. These greens are tiny. What have you found with your ball striking that's allowed you to hit so many greens?

HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, I just feel like pretty much ever since I came back out to play this year that my ball striking has been really consistent, which is nice, because I feel like last year I improved but it was kind of up and down.

And, yeah, I feel like I'm hitting the ball really well. It's nice that I'm hitting a lot of greens. I'm not necessarily always hitting it close, but I feel like here the greens are small so you kind of got a good opportunity.

But just was a little bit annoying today. I had a lot of in-between clubs, but finally come the back nine I had some better shots in, so that's why I was able to make some birdies.

But, yeah, I don't know what it is. I feel like I've always kind of had a better of ball striking, short game, so it's just whenever I can get that putter hot I can be up there.

Q. Let's talk about yesterday into today. Windy yesterdays. Had another solid round yesterday to get you in contention. Do Australians just play really well in the wind? I feel like that's an unspoken stereotype for Australian players.

HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, no, it's true. I guess we're just so used to it at home. Where I practice it's usually a one- to two-club wind, and where I train is usually always windy. Usually always downwind, so that's kind of helpful. But we're not a stranger to it, so I think that makes it a little bit easier.

But I feel like here it's a little gusty so like picking your moments and the right clubs is quite important and just making sure you trust the shot that you're going to hit.

Today was really strange because the wind died down come the last few holes, and you were just kind of trying to find some sort of wind to see if it would affect the shots.

I'm sure we'll be late tomorrow again, so hopefully it's kind of calm for us and we get the good side of the draw again.

Q. It's kind of a like you said, you have to make yourself realize that the wind is not going to gust on you. How do you switch your mind, okay, I played in the gusts for the first 12 holes; now it's calm I can trust myself?

HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, it was a little strange because I guess even like playing the 14th the last couple days I always hit 3-wood and stayed well short of the bunkers; today was almost going in the bunker. So just things like that that just catches up on you.

Yeah, it's like when you're picking up grass to see where it's coming and it falls straight down you kind of feel a little silly for even throwing the grass, but you're like, okay, there has to be something.

Sometimes there is a gust and it does like lay down. I'm not sure what tomorrow's forecast is, but hopefully there is just a little bit of wind. Not a two-club wind or anything like that.

Q. Just a little bit.

HANNAH GREEN: Yeah.

Q. Won in Australia earlier this year from what I saw.

HANNAH GREEN: Uh-huh.

Q. How much does a win like that give you confidence when you're in these positions, when you're in contention and you're going to be chasing?

HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, absolutely. It definitely helps. Like I said, it was a little bit different because when I was in Australia I always had the lead so tomorrow I'll be coming from behind.

It definitely helps with the nerves coming down the stretch. I've definitely felt the nerves when I was in Australia because I was trying to win my first tournament on home soil.

So hopefully I can use that experience from February to get me across the line tomorrow.

Q. What's the mindset heading in?

HANNAH GREEN: I'm just going to take it easy tomorrow morning. Probably just tidy up because I'm going to go to my next accommodation.

Just get some good food, maybe have some ice cream tonight, and hope that I get some good rest.

Q. If something positive happens tomorrow, will we see another shoey?

HANNAH GREEN: No. These shoes are like six weeks old, and I said at Cobram that's the last one I'll do. Maybe if I won a major championship, but I mean, LA, is a great event, but I'll leave that to Dan Ricciardo to do.
