Q. You guys played really great for this format. Can you talk about how the round went? To match yesterday's score is pretty impressive.

JASON SCRIVENER: Yeah, I think we just kind of got on a roll today. We both were hitting fairways and greens and giving ourselves looks at it. Managed to roll a few in. I think it was just basically mistake free. I think that was the biggest part.

Yeah, we just got some momentum and rolled on with it.

Q. Jason, could you pronounce your last name?

JASON SCRIVENER: Scrivener.

Q. This is only like your fifth start in America?

JASON SCRIVENER: Yeah, I've played mainly Europe the last seven or eight years, and yeah, just wanted to try to play a bit more over here when I get the chance.

Q. How did the partnership come about?

JASON SCRIVENER: Just known each other for a while and we've got the same agent, and I just messaged Jase, asked if he needed a partner, and he said yes.

Q. Jason Day, y'all shot 65 yesterday in the afternoon with maybe a little more wind than you got this morning maybe. 65-65 may sound stupid, but which one was better?

JASON DAY: I'd say today, by far. Four-ball is strange; sometimes you can play your own ball and you just don't quite have it, but sometimes in a foursome you obviously are kind of feeding off your partner and your partner hits it down the middle, he hits it on the green, you roll in a good putt. I feel like we're gelling really, really well together on the greens and we're very similar in regards to how we read the putt and how we like to see the putt go in the hole, so that helps a lot.

Today was special. I think we played some really phenomenal golf out there, especially with how the weather was. Like you said, it's pretty gusty out there and it's difficult, but just managed it really well today, got it around, and very pleased with how Jase is playing right now. He's very focused.

Q. Is it a little more wind today than yesterday afternoon?

JASON DAY: Yeah, I would say there definitely is because in parts yesterday there was -- it was kind of dying down a little bit, and today it's more of a sustained kind of 14 kind of out of the east-southeast. That wind is nice coming down the stretch on 18 because you've got something that's coming off the right and you can kind of hit a drive down there. It's definitely difficult on some of the par-3s for sure, and luckily enough he's hitting the par-3s.

Q. It's so unfamiliar playing alternate-shot; I don't know how much you guys have played together, but how comfortable were you doing that today?

JASON SCRIVENER: Yeah, it's tricky. I think like Jase said early, it can go both ways because you're not hitting -- you could go a few holes without hitting an iron shot or tee shot or even a putt sometimes. It's a tricky format, but we just kind of gelled, and I think we focused really well on the shots that we did have, so I think we did well.

Q. Where do you feel like the team format can be a strength for you both?

JASON DAY: I would say it's not so much like -- we're halfway through the tournament, so we just -- there's two more rounds to go. Like we can't get ahead of ourselves too far. I think the biggest thing is like Patrick and Xander are playing some phenomenal golf right now. We've just got to kind of stay in our own little world. If we can just stay there and just do what we need to do to either get it on the fairway, get it on the green, if you don't hole a putt or if you're out of position, get yourself back in position, I think that's the biggest thing for us.

But just try to stay under the radar, not get too high, too low. I think the way we play and the way that he handles his mental game is very similar to mine. That's definitely a big help.

Q. Jason Day, where are you with your game right now? Obviously you've been a very popular player for a long time. People would like to see you back winning tournaments. Do you feel like you're attempting to make a comeback or do you not think of it that way?

JASON DAY: I think the biggest thing is I've just got to keep knocking off these process goals each and every day. Yeah, obviously it would be nice to win, but I can't think about outcome stuff because obviously that's going to stress me out if I think about it too much and things don't happen my way. Right now I'm just focused on trying to stay as present as possible every single day, have my goals list every single day and just keep knocking them out.

Q. Jason, with the conditions the way they were this morning, a little stronger than yesterday, if we would have told you when you teed off 65, how happy would have been been?

JASON SCRIVENER: Yeah, I think we would have taken it for sure. I think even anything under par today was probably a pretty good score. To shoot 7-under is pretty special.

Q. If you can just take us through the eagle on No. 7.

JASON SCRIVENER: I hit the tee shot, Jase hit an unbelievable 3-wood I think it was.

JASON DAY: Yeah, high cut 3-wood. It was like 233 to the front, had like 250 something to the pin. Wind was in off the right. I hit my 3-wood like 275, so gripped down, high kind of like just fading this thing back into the wind to kill it enough to land soft enough, and fortunately for us this morning the greens were very receptive, and the softness of the greens. Being able to cut that back up against the wind, we were able to stop it pretty quick and then Scriv just rolled in a nice putt. He's putting really well. It's nice to see.
