Harbour Town Golf Links

Quick Quotes

Q. Matt, I'm guessing you were quite happy to see the conditions the way they were today. How would you kind of characterize the round out there as a whole?

MATT KUCHAR: Yeah, it was a much easier day today than yesterday for sure.

Still this golf course is tough kind of regardless. Any bad shots can lead to double bogeys pretty quickly here. Fortunate to kind of continue some good form, play some good golf, make a few birdies, and golf gets a whole lot more fun when you have a chance to win.

Having a chance, having a late tee time tomorrow, I'll be looking forward to the challenge.

Q. When you saw some of the scores going out early that were low, how does it change -- does it change how you play at all?

MATT KUCHAR: I try to pull off the best shot for each situation that I possibly can. Sometimes there's a chip-out.

I don't necessarily think just because some guys have shot 6-under earlier, I don't think, well, I have to do that as well. You take what the golf course gives you on each day, and I've been glad to have some opportunities to make some birdies out there.

Q. You talked about the work you've done with your instructor, Chris O'Connell. How do you kind of -- while being in contention, how do you keep working towards those things? And how do you take it from the range to the golf course without thinking too much?

MATT KUCHAR: I always like to have one mechanical thought to go out on the course. I kind of think of that mechanical thought as a bit of an occupier. It keeps my brain busy from wandering off and thinking about something it probably shouldn't.

So one mechanical thought that's been helpful, Chris has been great about keeping things simple, about working towards the same process, and is always great about giving me multiple thoughts. In case one doesn't work, I kind of feel like I've got a little bit of a rolodex to go through. Hopefully show up tomorrow, and one of those is clicking, one of those is working.

Q. As we talked about yesterday, you've won here before. You've played well here on numerous occasions. Do you take a lot of those positive vibes when you go into a final round knowing that you've done it here before?

MATT KUCHAR: I think it's helpful. Certainly being in the position of having done it gives you that extra bit of confidence. I think back to course knowledge, and I would take execution over course knowledge any day. Like if you could go out and just be on proper form, I would rather play a course blind and know exactly where I was hitting the ball.

When you can combine it all, when you can combine some course knowledge and have some execution going for you, it's kind of best of both worlds.

Q. Do you feel like you're on what you call proper form right now?

MATT KUCHAR: Golf's a funny game. Listen, I don't ever claim to have ownership of it. I know better. I've been around long enough that you never know what tomorrow holds.

Thankfully, it's been going in the right direction. I think the game's been trending, the swing's been trending in the right direction, and I hope to continue it.
