Quick Quotes
Q. How good was that round today?
JOEL DAHMEN: It was really good. It was one of my better ones out here probably.
Q. Why would you say it's one of your better rounds out here on TOUR?
JOEL DAHMEN: It was so windy and gusty, and the par-3s are hard out here. I mean, some of the shots I hit, like down 14 I hit it into the side to six feet. That was really a golf shot.
There was a couple of other ones, even just driving it in play all day. It's not easy. It's super gusty. I putted well. I chipped pretty well. It was just one of those deals that if I somehow par 7 and make birdie on 9, you're two better and shoot 65, but this is pretty darn good.
Q. What was the hardest thing for you personally out there in regards to the wind?
JOEL DAHMEN: So when you get in the trees and the houses, actually you'll feel completely different on the tee than where your ball's at. It's really hard to actually just hit a golf shot when the wind is going one way and you're standing the tee, and the ball is going to do something completely different up there. So that was really difficult for me.
Committed to it all day. Geno did a great job with the wind, and it kind of worked out.
Q. You talked about working out. You've been working on your putting. New instructor maybe?
JOEL DAHMEN: A little bit. I started working with Derek Uyeda. He's out of San Diego. It's not rocket science. It's none of that special stuff. It's like read it properly and hit it where you read it. It's so simple and easy, but it's amazing how many guys don't do that. I've just been working a little bit on it, and today was obviously really good.
Q. Is it more kind of a mental thing?
JOEL DAHMEN: I wouldn't even say mental. We filmed the stroke, and he's like your stroke is really good. I always thought my stroke wasn't good. Once I got over the hurdle that my stroke is actually good enough to be a good putter out here, then we worked on actually reading the green instead of hoping the ball was going correctly.
It's simple stuff, but it's obviously working really well so far.
Q. A lot of guys in the mix heading into the weekend obviously. How do you feel kind of looking at that leaderboard and seeing how many guys there are so close to the top?
JOEL DAHMEN: I think Corey Conners is lurking. He's always a threat. Those Canadians are tough.
It's so packed here, I think even-par is going to make the cut. What do you have? I think Streb made a birdie somewhere, but anyone can win going into the weekend. You can shoot a low one out here.
I think a couple years ago I shot 9-under on Saturday and got myself in a spot. It's doable if you make the cut. You don't have to make a bunch of birdies if it stays tough, but it's easy to make a double out there.
Q. No bucket hat today?
JOEL DAHMEN: Too windy. I came out with it on the putting green and had no chance with it today. I didn't want to bother with it. It was just extra sunscreen.
