MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 10, 2022

Seamus Power

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. 2-under par round. You must be very happy with that?

SEAMUS POWER: I was. It felt like a birdie fest out there for me. I played nicely again. Similar stuff, I just didn't quite get the putter going, but I hit a lot of good stuff today and played the par-5s much better. That's the difference. I was 3-under for par-5s today, and it just changes your whole outlook on the course. Then you can be more patient when you need to be patient.

It was good. It was fun. This is kind of what you picture. It's perfect weather, sun shining, really fast greens, and just light breeze, kind of just making it tricky. It was beautiful out there.

Q. Make you keen to come back for your second Masters?

SEAMUS POWER: Absolutely, yeah, yeah. It's an incredible week, really enjoyed everything. Hopefully we'll be lucky enough to come back.

Q. A couple of 2s decorated the card. Nearly joining Harrington?

SEAMUS POWER: Nearly at 16. I hit two great shots at 16 this week, actually two very, very close. It was nice when I started the turn. You just hear the crowd and see people stand up. I was hoping there was a chance. Lovely shot. Nice to make it in 2. Didn't quite join the 1 club there.

Q. The 12th hole has been a tricky one for you all week.

SEAMUS POWER: It's just a tough hole. It's just so shallow. I said to Simon, all four of my shots midair I probably would have taken. I thought I hit four pretty good shots, and then I made three bogeys.

But it's that area where I thought it was short, and I ended up slightly long a couple of times. It's tough in that corner. You are feeling the wind one way, and then you get a little gust another way. It's just tough. You only have four or five yards to land them on, and I was only able to connect on the one. It's something I'll learn from and hopefully be able to put it to better use next time around.

Q. How would you assess the week? Did you tick off most of the boxes? If you were given this back on Tuesday, would you have taken it?

SEAMUS POWER: Probably not. I had higher hopes. It's one of those weeks. It's golf, and sometimes it's not quite your week, and the putts don't quite drop, and that's kind of how it was this week.

I hit it nicely. Gave myself chances, especially the last three days. Just wasn't able to take advantage. Sometimes leaving it in the jaws, even on 18, there was a tiny too much speed along the top edge. It's small, little differences out here.

Q. You seemed very relaxed out there. You were asking for football results.

SEAMUS POWER: I was.

Q. I found myself in the clubhouse asking ladies at reception about Manchester City.

SEAMUS POWER: I heard they finished 2-2. I didn't hear much about it. I look forward to seeing it. The one in October was fantastic. Obviously, I preferred to be playing golf.

Q. What did you hit on 16?

SEAMUS POWER: 7-iron. Yeah, it was -- it's been a nice breeze for me. It's been off to the left pretty much all week, and it was 181. I hit my 7-iron 182. It was perfect. Landed pin high on the slope and just came back down.

Q. What was the biggest lesson you learned about this week? Is there anything in particular that stands out that next time you think I'll feel better?

SEAMUS POWER: It's not so much that. You really realize that you just have to hit very, very good shots. A lot of things you kind of know. It's like people tell you little things, like 12 has got to be the very exact shot. Coming in you're like, it can't be that exact, but then you really do see it.

You are hitting reasonably good shots, and they're ending up in tough spots, and that's why it's soft. That's why whoever is going to win today is going to be the best player, which is all you can ask for from a course really.

Q. Are you back on again next week?

SEAMUS POWER: Not playing next week. I'm going to play the Zurich with Graeme in 10, 11 days. I can't wait for that. That's going to be fun. I'm really looking forward to that.

Q. Hopefully we'll see you in the Irish Open?

SEAMUS POWER: Absolutely. I can't wait for that as well. It will be a fun tour.

Q. Moving up the paddock.

SEAMUS POWER: I got a couple of points. The more the merrier.
