Quick Quotes
Q. Your weekend, how are you feeling right now?
TYRRELL HATTON: I'm glad it's over. I think that's a pretty good way to sum it up. Obviously, disappointed, but I just never do well here.
This course doesn't really suit my eye, to be honest, so, yeah, it's just one of those weeks that I feel like if I come back in the future, it's just a case of trying to get through the best that I can. Not much.
Q. The last round last year with 68, and you signed off okay this year. You seem to be making progress.
TYRRELL HATTON: Yeah, but you can hit good shots here and not get any reward for it. It's unfair at times. I don't agree with that.
If you hit a good shot, you should end up near the hole. Not then short-sided into a bunker because of the slopes that they've created and stuff. Yeah, I don't think it's a fair test at times, and when you hit good shots and you're not rewarded for it, it shows.
Q. Does it increase the frustration level more than any, or is it because it's also a major, Tyrell?
TYRRELL HATTON: I think it's how the course is set up in general. You don't really have to miss a shot, and your next one you'll have -- you're really struggling to make par.
With how it runs off the greens here and the slopes that you are then chipping into and how obviously it's cut, it just makes it really hard to even get chip shots close. I think everything is exaggerated here.
Q. You've said in the past that some courses don't fit your eye, and yet you seem to play well on them or do well on them, but this is the exact opposite, isn't it? It doesn't fit your eye, and you don't play well on it.
TYRRELL HATTON: Yeah. I haven't enjoyed it.
Q. You were getting frustrated out there. Did you feel you kept your temper all right?
TYRRELL HATTON: No. When you are clearly bottom of the field during the weekend, even if I feel like I've hit good shots out there, I've not been rewarded for them, so it's a case of just lose a bit of interest.
Certainly with the scores I had going, I'm kind of just -- it's not even trying to build on anything for next week. I'm just trying to ideally get off the golf course as fast as possible.
Q. You did say that. After your drive you said I can't wait to get back home.
TYRRELL HATTON: Would be nice if we had a time machine to fast forward certain things.
Q. What happened on hole 2? I saw you carrying your own clubs for a bit. I thought you might be out of a caddie.
TYRRELL HATTON: Mick is really struggling with his knee. This is actually his last event for a while. He is going to go home and see a doctor and find out what the next step is for him. Obviously, at this moment we don't know how long he won't be able to caddie for.
He said that he would do next week, and I just said it's another week that's kind of -- yeah, it's flat, and you can kind of get around it okay, but there's no point kind of stressing it out any further. He has had the issue for quite a long time, so I said I would rather he just gets home, sees a doctor, and the sooner that he has a diagnosis on it and what the relevant steps are to move forward. And obviously hopefully he is not out for too long, but for his sake, he needs to get it right before he comes out.
This is a tough walk for even the fittest caddies. Obviously, the bags are pretty heavy, and with the slopes that they're walking up and down, it's tough. He struggled to get through four days.
Q. You might have to carry your own. What's the deal there?
TYRRELL HATTON: It's more of pace of play. He was raking where I went in the bunker, and then he also raked Billy's mark, so it was just a case of just getting down there.
I did it the other day walking up 8, which I can say it wasn't a fun walk, but maybe I'll be better off if I come back being a caddie here rather than trying to hit golf shots.
Q. You have a sub sorted out for next week?
TYRRELL HATTON: Yeah, Mick has someone sorted out. We're squared away there, no issues.
