Quick Quotes
Q. Cameron Davis here. Final round. You finished. What was the wash-up from the week?
CAMERON DAVIS: Well, today kind of just tried to sum the week up as being as fun as possible. It was really cool to be here. I'm disappointed a little bit about how I performed through the middle -- well, I'm really proud of the way I fought back and made the cut. I'm a little disappointed about how I handled it yesterday, but today was a lot of fun.
Obviously, I've looked up to Adam my whole life, and getting a go around here first group off, fresh greens, not much wind, the weather a little warmer, it was a lot more enjoyable. And I've seen all these Sunday pins for years now. It was fun to have a couple of cracks at using all the slopes and hitting the shots that I've seen before. A lot of fun. A lot of good memories. It was awesome.
Q. Now, it's quite evident a lot of the times that the commentators get you mixed up with Cam Smith, but you are Cam Davis. Pretty exciting that Cam is there in the final round with a big chance. What do you think his strengths will be today? What will he be thinking when he is out there today?
CAMERON DAVIS: With the conditions the way they are and the pins where they are, he is going to have a lot of birdie chances, and the way he is getting it up-and-down and holing his putts at the moment, I feel like it sets up a little easier tee to green, so I think it might be a little bit more of a putting contest. And I feel like the way he has been going, he can definitely claw some ground back.
But I think some good scores are going to get shot, and they're going to have to keep moving forwards to get it. Yeah, but I'm hoping he plays well and gives it a good go because it would be cool to get another Aussie with the jacket on.
Q. It certainly would. What do you think his strengths will be then?
CAMERON DAVIS: Short game, putting. He has been really solid tee to green as well, but I think the short game separates him. It's never a bad idea to be able to get it up-and-down out of the trash from around these greens. Yeah, he will be good. He will do well.
Q. Congratulations on a great week. Thanks for spending some time with us.
Q. Cam, what would another green jacket mean to the country of Australia?
CAMERON DAVIS: We got behind the first one pretty good. I'm sure we'll get behind the second one just as well. Cam is obviously quite popular with the Aussies, and the way he has been playing, I think everyone would love it if he got another one.
We love our sport, and an Aussie winning the pinnacle of any sport is really well-received.
Q. You guys got behind Adam winning this so well. If Cam did, why are all the Australian golfers so close, and it seems like it's such a close-knit family?
CAMERON DAVIS: There's not a whole lot of us, and it's definitely nice to hear a familiar accent. Just having a little bit in common. Yeah, I think any countryman on tour, if you are English or Aussie or if you are from outside of the country, it's kind of nice to just have a few mates that are a little closer. So easier to get a practice round, guys you know.
I think it all just makes it feel a little bit more like home. A little less like the other side of the world.
Q. If Cam were to win, he has really come on the world stage. He has always been a very good golfer. What do you think has really kind of been the impetus to why he has come on so much recently?
CAMERON DAVIS: I think he has always been knocking on the door. He has been at the top of every level that he has played at, and it was, I guess, a matter of time before his game and his strengths started to shine as brightly as they are now.
He has always been awesome around the greens and a great putter, and I guess it's just a little bit of tidying up tee to green. That might have been what it was, I don't really know. I haven't played that much golf with him.
He has always been a great golfer, and now is he starting to pull that golf off in big events, and it's pretty cool to see him at the top of the board in one of the biggest.
