Quick Quotes
Q. Tommy, in the context of conditions today, how good was that 70?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, I made -- well, we spoke on Thursday, didn't we, and I did say I didn't play that bad. I felt like I wasn't that far away and it was -- you know, it was a bad score.
But then yesterday felt like I played great and just 11, 13, yesterday were like killer holes really, and then it was tough coming in. But I par'd my way in yesterday. Felt like I played really, really well.
Then today sort of holed some really good putts. I was playing great, but it was -- I still had to hole 4, 5-footers it seemed like every hole for pars.
And then when I didn't really give any shots away, some good shots got rewarded and made some birdies.
But, yeah, it's great being out there when you are sort of in control and you're getting the right side of the golf course, especially on a day like today.
However, if you're on the wrong side it's going to be quite penal for some guys.
Q. We're standing here and the is blowing. What would be the most tricky parts of the course in your opinion?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: I think it's so hard to get it anywhere near the pin. I played amazing today. I mean, not saying I'm the best golfer in the word, but I played really, really well and I honestly seemed to be holing out all day.
I made what, three -- I made four birdies today, so you're not -- nobody is really going to be stiffing anything.
And then from there, with the way the wind and the pins are, I just think there will be so many 3, 4, 5-footers across slopes in into the wind. That's what it felt like all day, and I think having the ability to be patient, have some course knowledge, and know like where the misses are and where the easiest longish two-putts are, where the easier up and downs are, is going to be so important, and just actually managing to take your chances when you get them.
You know, I'm very happy to be done, to be fair. I'll just watch guys come in. But I think most of all I'm just really pleased that I'm putting some good rounds of golf together and hopefully I can keep it going.
Q. What's the attitude this morning going out with Scheffler so far ahead and knowing it's breezy and chilly?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Well, for starters -- well, two things: I can't really look at what he's doing. He's so far clear. Whatever I do is in his hands no matter what, no matter how well I happen to play.
But then if I am going to have any kind of a sniff or have a good finish, I need to the conditions to be like this and then play well. So it was good when we came here this morning.
It was playing really, really tough. I hit a great iron shot into 1 and two great shots in 2, and so got my round off and running.
So, yeah...
Q. A nice up and down on 3 as well.
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Nice up and down on 3, yeah. Hate making excuses, but there was mud on my ball with the second shot.
You know, like I said I'm very happy now to sit back and watch people come in. I'll do a little bit of practice. I'll go home and sit with the family and do nothing for the afternoon and watch really.
But I think yesterday was an important round. Without playing well yesterday I don't really give myself a chance to play well today, and I'm not doing anything different, it's just that you get the chance to play and end up shooting a good score today, so we'll see where that finishes.
Q. How much of the Everton game did you get to watch before teeing off this morning?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: A little bit. Had it on at breakfast and then we were 1-nil up and I managed to see the result before we were warming up. So they're a difficult team to support, they really are.
Q. Nice little push before you teed off.
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, three points and a semi for me so it's been a good day so far.
