Quick Quotes
Q. Danny, interesting day, how would you describe it?
DANNY WILLETT: Tricky. No, we played good. Didn't miss many fairways. We were in position a good bit. Kind of three shots that got really exaggerated on 10, 11, 12, where the wind was really messing around for us. Three pretty easy bogeys and just couldn't quite do anything coming in.
Still under par, still probably top ten. Probably going to be four or five back but 36 holes to go and nice place to be.
Q. If someone gave you this sort of position going into the weekend, you'd take it, right?
DANNY WILLETT: Yeah, you would. You don't want guys to get too far ahead, but positional-wise you would. You just want to be within touching distance so that if you make a run for it, you're going to be in position.
Q. Do you feel your confidence is growing over the two days given the way conditions have been and the way the tournament is unfolding?
DANNY WILLETT: I think we said it at the beginning of the week the golf course was real different Sunday, Monday, before the rain came. I think guys were getting ready for a single figure winning score. I think with how the wind's been and the temperature now has dropped, it probably will still be around a single figure score.
We know this golf course gives you a chances in a few areas. But like I said before, if you miss some areas, you'll have tricky little shots in there. That's kind of where we got ourselves today. So, yeah, 36 left. Hopefully the boys cannot get too far in front.
Q. What was the trickiest part of the wind for you today?
DANNY WILLETT: Just bouncing on the trees, especially down 10, 11, 12. Kind of played 1n in out of the right and it flickered out the left. Played 11 in out the right, and it flickered down. Played 9 in out of the right and it flickered out the right and a little bit of help.
Just got ourselves in a few areas where there's nothing you can do because you always err on the side of caution. With the wind whipping out at the right on 11, you're not going to take it straight at the flag if the wind is out the right.
So one of them things where you kind of err on the side of caution, hoping the wind plays as it feels, and it just didn't a couple of times, which is a shame. That can change drastically. Hit them same golf shots tomorrow, and they could sneak in there and go close.
We're making plenty of good moves, hitting a lot of good putts. Like I said, we're in a nice position. I've been in this position for a while, and it's nice to be there.
Q. How much does your knowledge of this golf course help you on a day like today?
DANNY WILLETT: Yeah, definitely because you know that it's tough. You know, if you're finding it tough, guys are finding it tough. You look on the leaderboard every four or five holes, and that's kind of what you see. You don't see people jumping out and going crazy. Scottie's got a chance the last four or five holes.
But then by the same token, they give you opportunities. You know, 13 and 15, but if you get them on and take it on and hit it in the water, from nowhere you can be making silly drop shots. So we'll just have to wait and see.
