MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 8, 2022

Patrick Cantlay

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

PATRICK CANTLAY: There's quite a few hard holes out there today with the wind. 11's probably the toughest, being straight into the wind and 500 yards with water.

Q. How did you play that?

PATRICK CANTLAY: I hit a drive up the left side of the fairway, got a mud ball, hit it 50 yards right of the green, and got up and down.

Q. You were one of the few guys who went for it on 15 this afternoon. Why did you decide to go for the green there?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Just a 7-wood, and the wind was calmer at that time. Will went for it too out of my group.

Q. How is that hole playing differently this year?

PATRICK CANTLAY: It's 25 yards longer. Yeah, other than that, it's the same.

Q. How long have you had a 7-wood in the bag?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Since summer.

Q. Patrick, is it kind of cool for you to see Tiger out here? But fans are enjoying it, but are the players also?

PATRICK CANTLAY: I think it's great for golf. It's been a long time, over a year since he's been playing, and I think we're all rooting for him.

Q. What does a 1-over score feel to you? Probably not entirely happy with it, but how do you step back and look at it in the context of the tournament?

PATRICK CANTLAY: We'll see where the lead is after today. If it stays where it is right now, it will be a handful back, which is right there with two rounds to play around this golf course, as you know.

Q. Do you feel like you're playing 1-over par right now? In other words, do you feel like you've got the score you deserve?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Score as -- you know, I have the score I exactly deserve (laughter). So that's how golf is. It's definitely the most objective of all the sports, and I am definitively 1-over par.

Q. How do you feel like you're playing this week?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Game feels good. Tomorrow's going to be another tough day similar to today, and I'm looking forward to the challenge.

Q. How bad was the wind out there?

PATRICK CANTLAY: As you can tell, it's blowing 20, 25, and up and down and shifting directions a little bit. It's tough.

Q. Wind die on you on 15?

PATRICK CANTLAY: A little bit.

Q. How far is that 7-wood supposed to go?

PATRICK CANTLAY: 245, 250.

Q. What did you have in, I guess?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, like about that.
