Augusta, Georgia, USA
Quick Quotes
Q. How did it go today?
WEBB SIMPSON: A bit of a struggle. It was playing really tricky, really difficult. Not my best, but it's all right.
Q. Was that a wind issue? Was that a you issue?
WEBB SIMPSON: A little bit of both. A little bit of both. The course dried out nicely.
I had a good opportunity to have a good round but just missed a few putts. Like 14, I put myself in a dead spot left of the green. 18, right of the fairway. I've just got to clean that stuff up to have a good weekend.
Q. How does the wind affect this place -- how is it affecting it today compared to other days you've seen it?
WEBB SIMPSON: Not really any different. It's just the strength today is a little stronger than what I would call a normal Augusta. There were some gusts, especially towards the end.
If the forecast holds true, it's going to continue to get harder and harder.
Q. What does the cold or relative cold do for a round out here? When tomorrow gets to be --
WEBB SIMPSON: It's a lot harder. That ball's not going to go near as far. For the older guys, I think they're going to tighten up a little bit. I'm including myself in the older guys.
But it's going to be a challenge, but I love playing when there's no rain. At least there's no rain. When we get back to a normal Augusta Sunday.
Q. How do you think Sungjae handled the first round lead today kind of getting through this?
WEBB SIMPSON: I think he did great. He's no stranger to success, so his game looked good.
